tillis who is the speaker of the statehouse. that's where we find the chuck wagon and our political director and moderator, chuck todd. tell us about north carolina. i think you talked to tom tillis today. >> we are hoping to catch up with kay in about an hour or so. north carolina a lot bigger state finding the candidates. you can't come here to north carolina and not be focused on the tv and saturation. every state feels like they're the most saturated market. north carolina had it longer than anybody else. you had very early ongoing up against kay hang in at the start of 2013. tom tillis had ads against him. both have been the targets of more outside spending than in any race in u.s. history. it is acute here when it comes to that issue. the other part that is intrusioning to me is as you know in our polls, the wild card here is this issue of gridlock and polarization. it seems to be the issue that is creating the most pause with voters. the last 10% that haven't made up their mind. here they are basically being given a choice of what they think may be two things i don't like. they are not happy with the democrats i

todd. hey, chuck, a lot of people talking about tom tillis being the most attacked guy on the planet, $26 million neck, remains too close to call. >> it does. i think if you were looking for the quote/unquote waive test and i am hesitant to use that word, but if there is a gust breeze blowing in the republican direction and picking up any momentum, i think the two races where you would see it would probably be north carolina and new hampshire, right, they're both sort of swing states and midterm years. they have a slight and republican lean to them. you have to wonder when you look at the slew of our polls released yesterday, the one that showed probably the most momentum for a republican candidate was the one in here in north carolina which showed tillis catching up and being a dead tie. if there is a breeze here in this last week, you think tillis is somebody who needs that. >> this, what i don't get, chuck. i look at all of these polls. the good media polls. it's neck and neck. they're all neck and neck. you have people come on and say republicans have a 95% chance of taking the senate. or if

the do not have a todd akin, but that does not mean that they have good candidates. tom tillis is a prime example. people are smart, and i think that when they go to the booth, they will realize what the choices. >> three weeks left. are you locked in on your strategy? where are you putting your money in on the end? >> there is always flexibility. one thing that has been reported is that in michigan, we will be throttling back spending their as gary peters continues to expand his lead. we know they states that we will be playing in, the ones that we mentioned. there could be something going on and south dakota, which i'm assuming we will get to. we will continue to spend in new hampshire, because outside groups are spending millions there. dakota, ator south crazy situation, a four-way race. larry, he has no money himself, his wife is very human around and he puts his own press releases out. will you jump in there? >> we will look at it and try and gather some more data. i think that we pride ourselves on being efficient. it looks like, externally, there are some things happeni

todd's latest stop on the meet the voters road trip. yesterday he spoke to north carolina voter republican tom tillis, who is trying to deflect attacks that his record in raleigh has leaned too far right, particularly on education. >> i think if you look at my record, you would be hard pressed to say that we have really gone down a partisan path. whether before the super majorities or afterwards? >> today we'll catch up with nunn in georgia. both are polling under 50% required to avoid a runoff. but nunn has been rising thanks largely to her attacks on the business record at dollar general. >> when i think about this race, i think about a contrast that we have. and thz between someone who spent their life here in georgia for 26 years, mobilizing volunteers and building communities and someone who by their own words has spent their career, majority of it, outsourcing jobs. >> here we go again. these are not based on facts. none of those allegations are based on facts. >> perdue told reporters again yesterday, quote, one man does not decimate an entire industry. chuck todd, moderator of "meet the press, joins us now from augusta, florida. g
