it was hot in tokyo. the highs were over 35 days for four days and on the western japan will be remaining on the hot side for the next several days. the heat maker is still in place across the south of the place. yesterday the outflow from the high pressure brought quite heavy rain. take a look at this video. rain plummeted over parts of the prefecture and down the road about 160 millimeters of rain in a space of just three hours. one local police van got stuck as you can see in the video. elsewhere a road collapsed and swallowed up a park. two ople in the car suffered broken hips and another escaped with minor injuries. the rain has stopped and nice clear skies across western japan. more of a concern will be across the korean peninsula and north eastern china. it seems spring has been across south korea and more rain is coming in. we are expecting 120 millimeters of rain and north korea could be hit the hardest. 200 millimeters for the next 24 hours. conditions will continue and moisture from the tropica

it's a sunny day in tokyo. let's find out what's happening across japan. >> yes, well, the end of the rainy season was declared pretty early in much of japan this year. however, it looks like it has made a comeback across much of eastern continental asia. this is due to a seasonal front stretching from eastern china into sea of japan. underneath it, heavy rain will be found. in the past 24 hours, 200 millimeters has fallen in south korea. i know that in seoul, people are wading through flooded water at the moment and houses are inundated. this additional rainfall into the next 24 hours, about 150 millimeters, is not going to really help improve that situation. now it's going to be recreated from inland china. but moving into central japan, looks like the rain will be an ongoing situation into wednesday with chances of afternoon and evening showers in tokyo as well. the good news is, as i mentioned, things are couple minute fishing here but showers will be continuing in and around the area where that 6.6 magnitu

researchers in tokyo are telling a different story. they conducted a study that concludes mainly people in traffic accidents actually being injured by seat belts. researchers say most of these injuries of compression fractures to the chest. this is especially true for elderly people whose bones tend to be brittle. they looked at serious accidents that occurred between 2004 and 2006. about 35 percent of people over 70 who were wearing seat belts suffered chest injuries. the figure is lower for younger people. the transport ministry says reducing pressure from the seatbelt to the chest is key to scaling back injuries among elderly people in traffic accidents. current safety standard require that seat belts not dig into the body more than five centimeters during an accident. but those standards are based on the physique of the average more can male. the transport ministry says it will study ways to diminish the seat belts to reduce injuries among the elderly. researchers are discussion the issue with -- they want japan to be a leader in p
