gwen tolbert in the weather center, what is the latest? >> one thing, maureen, the computer models are not quite coming together on the consensus. there is a look at viper for you. we don't have a whole lot going on. to the south, you saw all that moisture and that is what is heading our way with that system. we have a few clouds right now. not a whole lot happening. the clouds will increase oath course of the night. where you saw that moisture to the south, that is what we are waiting for. just how close the system comes to us will determine what we're going to get in terms of snowfall. that is a very key factor. right now, however, there is winter storm warnings for areas of the west, southeastern virginia, shenandoah valley. that from midnight until monday a.m. then there is a storm watch, area shaded in blue which does not include the district. that's in effect all day sunday. we are watching it closely. i'll have a few more details when i come upstairs to let you know exactly what. we have not been able to pinpoint it so far. >> you c

glen tolbert is in the fox 5 weather center. glen, i can't tell you how many conversations we've had on the set here about what an easy winter we've had. now the possibility of snow's popped up. >> i know. we've been totally spoiled in winter, will. the snow situation for us will be very much a far cry from what's happening in colorado and the upper midwest right now. let's look at our satellite radar composite and show you what's ham. here -- what's happening. here you see three distinct lines, a rain line, a pink mix line and a snow line. and this is where we're seeing the precipitation moving its way through and across our area. now, a lot of this is really still in the upper atmosphere. a lot of it is just very light. and that's what we're talking about. they've gotten 1 and a half inches already in allegheny county, but elsewhere, maybe a half inch like through frederick, maryland, northern baltimore, especially on unpaved roads, bridges, overpasses and grassy surfaces. as far as the d.c. metro area is concerned, we'll see

gwen tolbert is in the weather center with the latest. >> reporter: the winds are strong today, maureen. you're right and i am sure that everyone was affected by them one way or other. let's look at the peak wind gusts we had at our airports. 44 miles an hour wind gusts at national; 46 at baltimore. thurgood marshal airport and 48 at dulles. unbelievable and we have some numbers in our neighborhood that we will show you later on. the winds are up there and sustained from 16 to 28 miles an hour and, currently, they're still gusting strong. look at these numbers. from 24 to 39 miles an hour. there was a wind advisory in effect. it's slated to expire at 6:00, so i'm going check the updates as soon as we finish to see if that advisory has been extended at all. the winds are expected to improve into the evening and the course of tonight. temperaturewise today, we are actually from about 35 to 42 degrees and it was cooler earlier but i think the winds made it feel cooler. it was a brisk northwesterly wind flow that we had, and that made a difference. the overnight low, 31 and a nice forecast
