these two guys have states where the economy is growing and tom corbett i would like to ask you a biglittle bit about that and the role of the federal government versus the state? >> we're doing very well with the development of the marcellus share and the utica natural gas here in pennsylvania. it's resulted in almost 30,000 jobs just in the core industry. in our last five, six years we've drilled close to 6,000 wells, 2,800 are already currently producing, so it is growing jobs and going to grow future jobs. shell has decided to site, we believe they will site an ethylene cracker facility in western pennsylvania that will provide jobs in the short term and also in the long-term because the petrochemical industry we think is going to grow around it. and it's going to grow over into west virginia and over to my colleague, john kasich, in ohio. >> the president, tom, talks about how under his administration all this increase of drilling, the fact, has the federal government been your partner in this or have you had to overcome them in. >> we've had to do our own environmental enforceme

tom corbett, governor of pennsylvania, joins me now live. welcome.ramatic, disturbing and worrying evening. how are you faring over there? >> well, we're faring pretty well. obviously the rain is coming through, high winds are coming through. we've lost over 100,000 homes, their electricity. actually about 120,000 are without power. we've closed down our interstates around the city of philadelphia to all traffic except emergency vehicles until 2:00 a.m. bridges going from philadelphia over to new jersey have also been closed because of the high winds. we had 27 counties who have opened up their emergency operations center. we have deployed the pennsylvania national guard, about 1600 troops are already deployed and we do have available for evacuation centers, 58 on standby with capacity for 31,000 people if we need it. >> from everything you're seeing and reading and hearing tonight, do you think generally, the authorities have prepared well enough for this? >> from what i can see, i believe so. i'm not down in the southeast part of the state, but i a

tom corbett is pennsylvania's governor. he joins us from harrisburg, pennsylvania.hat really are you preparing for the state of pennsylvania? >> well, you're right. i was a member of the national guard when we had hurricane isaac here. we rely upon the national guard quite a bit. we have activated 1600 members of the guard. harrisburg is being used as a people and a military reservation. equipment coming in from the federal government is there. it will be disbursed across the commonwealth of pennsylvania. southeastern pennsylvania will be hit as the storm comes ashore. working with tony emergency operations center. some counties have declared states of emergency. we will continue to work with them and try to educate the people to take the storm, as you have said, this is a dangerous storm. this is a hurricane wrapped into a nor'easter and nobody has ever experienced something like that before. we want the people to be prepared. stay home. the highways are dangerous. we will see gusts between 65 and 75 miles per hour. one of the things we have done is limited truck a
