tom friedman is with us of the "new york times." ndably so, the son was. >> yeah. you know, watching this event, wolf, you're really reminded. these sort of events are secular religion as a country. and they're traditions that really bind us together. and it's hard not to watch them, to watch the speaker of the house and the republican speaker of the house, the incoming democratic speaker, the senate majority leader with the senate minority leader. these are moments of incredible bipartisanship in a city that is so starved, that has so long not seen anything like this on the kind of national scale, it's just hard to watch this and wonder why does it take a funeral to bring us together like this. why can't we even be half as good or a quarter as good on our average days as we are on these days. >> it is an amazing day right now. and this family is a truly wonderful family. the children, the grandchildren, the great grandchildren, have gathered to celebrate the life of the 41st president of the united states, but so close to all of the

that certainly was the conclusion of tom friedman over the weekend.part of the column he wrote in the "new york times." if the ceo of any public company in america behaved like trump has in the last two years, ignoring the advise of experts he or she would have been fired by the board of directors long ago. should we expect less for our president? my question to you, senator, is should we? >> we elected this man knowing what we were getting. this is what everybody seems to ignore. i understand tom freeman did not vote for trump, and i did, and i knew he was going to be a disruptive figure, and he would be a disruptive figure from his own management style or the way he deals with the press and the like. we all knew that and it was a gamble we were willing to take and we thought washington was so dysfunctional in its response to the american public, and it's now dysfunctional in a different way but at least what we are seeing is policies, and this is why conservatives stand behind the president, we are seeing policies that are making america work better

and it wasn't until tom friedman's celebritization of him as a new and less wahabist-connected rule therean being the evita of the middle east, become celebritized far beyond where any other ruler would have been. they have options and they've dumped crown princes in the past and rulers in the past when they deemed it was not good for the saudi regime. so i don't know what will happen, but i suspect that senator lindsey graham may say we cannot do business with this man. he will say john mccain, if he were alive would say we cannot do business with this man and we'll see what happens. >> this divide. it's been there between members of congress, include allies of the president's of whom lindsey gram is one. >> huge. he's a huge ally of the president. >> huge split on this issue and the imgracpact. the president who has repeatedly said things like, well, look at the economic impacts from our alliance with this nation. >> a couple of things to pull apart there. one thing is the yemen resolution and the discomfort with the humanitarian crisis is growing in yemen may have moved forward even wi
