now tom harwood is at conference for us. tom, you're there. you've been chatting away to everyone, finding out what's going on. tell me, what's the atmosphere like there ? atmosphere like there? >> yes, i'm live on the exhibition floor here in birmingham. and i have to say , birmingham. and i have to say, it's pretty blooming busy. it doesn't really match up with some of the reports we've been reading this morning that this is a thinner conference. i think to some extent there are fewer lobbyists here. obviously there are. it's this is now a party in opposition. it's going to be five years before this party can get back into government, in all likelihood. and they might not even then. but clearly there are party members here who've bought their tickets when this party was in government and there are some exhibition stalls as well. i'd say a few fewer than at the labour party conference. but just as interesting. and what is most interesting, perhaps, is the party candidates, those leadership candidates, they have their stalls

we've also got tom harwood on the ground with us. tom, what did you take away from that speech?ou ? highlights for you? >> i think the one thing that everyone will remember from this speech is, of course, the heckler. although it wasn't a heckler. although it wasn't a heckle over the issue of winter fuel, it wasn't over economic policy, it was over the middle east, an issue that still dogs the labour party, where they get criticism from both sides of the of the of that conflict, taking this peculiar path of limiting some arms sales to israel, but not all, she not only annoys those that are in favour of israel, but those who are against it too. so i think that's going to be the standalone moment that people remember months from now. but clearly what rachel reeves was trying to get across was that more positive, future looking agenda. you could see that she was really trying to smile throughout that speech. it's almost as if she had been trained in coming across less glum. i wonder if this is a new rachel reeves that we'll be seeing more of with this sort of forced smile in the we
