nbc bay area's tom jensen has the story. >> reporter: the branson school is one of the most respectedollege prep schools in the u.s. but investigators describe harassment and sexual abuse in the 17-page report at the century-old school that dates from the 1970s into the 2010s. >> if it's true, they should go to jail. >> i think there's a lot of things that happen that are under the radar that people miss. >> reporter: according to the findings, there were reports of abuse and suspicions over the years, but there was never any real investigation until the current head of the school launched one a year ago. some of what investigators discovered is so graphic, the report includes a parental discretion disclaimer in red lettering. graduates told investigators a popular soccer coach displayed predatorial behavior during the 1970s, and investigators looked into six allegations of sexual misconduct by that one coach. a former player who he coached in a separate private league told nbc bay area she was stunned by the revelations, but she remembers rumblings more than three decades ago about t

tom jensen is live where police are trying to keep the peace for families this easter. >> reporter: good evening. they think of the probably could or a number of them could break out tonight. normally on hot, sunny spring and summer days, that's when they get the sideshows. police are out in force, not only by ground in their vehicles and on motorcycles, but also by air. we heard just a few minutes ago a helicopter fly overhead. they say they will have air support tonight for this enforcement period. in that dangerous crime spree last weekend, emergency crews were actually postponed from responding to the scene because multiple gunshots rang out as they were approaching the burning vehicles you were talking about. cars blocked them from reaching an expectant mother ready to give birth. the baby and mom are okay. a police officer was injured. oakland pd says it wants the people who are organizing these high speed and sometimes violent sideshows to know they have to stop before someone really gets hurt or even worse. there have been fatalities in the past. they say these sideshows have got

nbc bay area's tom jensen joins us from the water company offices in san jose with the details of this new fee. it doesn't seem fair, tom. >>at my of the customers we talked to here outside of san jose water, when they were coming to pay their bills, they were frustrated. feeling like they're being punished for doing their part to conserve. it was a statewide mandate during the recent drought years. cut back on water because reservoirs are drying up. for the second year in a row, san jose water customers are being asked to pay more because all that conservation left the utility with a budget shortfall. >> i've seen my bill go as high as $500, $600 a bill. >> where? >> from $200, $300. >> reporter: that's after ripping out most of her grass and installing drip irrigation and drought-friendly landscaping. san jose water says customers did so well that the utility en a $9 million shortfall. >> when we sell significantly less water, we're not able to cover our costs. that's the reason we're seeking this surcharge. >> reporter: if approved the surcharge will make up for the 2018 losses. and

nbc bay area tom jensen is at the san jose water company that wants to add a surcharge because they didn'tl enough water last year. >> reporter: the average cost for each bill would be about $2.20 per month, raj. but that is on top of a previous rate increase that went into place just recently. so many customers say they feel like they've had enough. frustration for san jose water company customers who came to pay their bills. >> not very happy about it. >> reporter: upset that the water company wants to impose a surcharge on about 1 million customers. the reason? customers did such a good job conserving water in 2018, san jose water sales plummeted, leaving it with a $9 million budget shortfall. >> the increase of prices just to cover their difficulties doesn't seem to be right. >> oh, i don't understand why i should pay more money for saving water. >> reporter: san jose water tells nbc bay area it understands the frustration, but says this will likely be the last time that it asks for a conservation surcharge to offset losses after rate increases went into effect in january. >> the new r

tom jensen is live near 680 where they will stop traffic in both directions around midnight. >> reporter: in both directions, right about 12:30 in the morning. it will last through the night, a complete eight-hour work shift until at least 8:30. they're saying maybe even 9:00 in the morning. this is what they're removing is this old overpass here at sheridan road, and the interstate here will remain completely closed, 680 in both directions. a new overpass was already installed last year. this old one has to come out, and they plan to get it all done all tonight. that means traffic is going to be crazy on the side roads where all of the vehicles will be rerouted around this project area. that includes niles canyon road, mission road and others. all of them lead to one point on the other side of this project at 680 and androtti road at the super food mart and gas station where they're opening 24/7 and expect to be very busy. >> everybody's going to take back roads. there's no way they can go anywhere. >> reporter: i talked to the project manager earlier tonight. he said they will break up
