bay area's tom jensen visits san ramon school campus as kids filed in for the first time of school today. >> reporter: an 18-year-old opposed the mask mandate district but he did not take his mask until he came outside. we noticed this campus and near by school, every students seem to be masking up when they were going inside. >> reporter: at san ramon valley high, students show up with a first day of school with masks on. >> i think it is great. i think my kids are comfortable wearing the masks. >> reporter: meeting had to halted after a crowd of demonstrators demanding the mandate to be lifted and among those protesters there was disagreements with some saying no masks ever and others saying they wanted parents to be able to make the choice. >> unfortunately because of 10% of you, we look like lunatic. >> it was disheartening. i am not surprised unfortunately. yeah, it was hard to see. >> reporter: while everybody we saw had their masks on, not everyone agrees on whether they should be required. >> it is not just covering the face, but it is the culture of fear. >> reporter: kourtney c

tom jensen joins us from south lake tahoe. we look behind you and we can barely see anything. >> reporter: that's right. it's a whiteout. you can't see where the smoke ends and the water begins here on lake tahoe. the fire officials and city officials may be a little less optimistic about the movement of the fire. late this afternoon, lake tahoe visitors authority issued a warning to visitors to stay away. telling the tourists who still plan to come to tahoe to stay away until further notice. that was after talking to fire officials and law enforcement officials. they have been saying, like you said, that they believe they can keep that fire out of the tahoe basin. we did talk to wildfire analysts. they believe it could make its way to the basin within a week. they don't want people to get flat footed if they get -- if they have to evacuate. the smoke is decimating tourism in tahoe. businesses want to know if the flames with coming. >> it's unlikely. >> reporter: this man bases on that on the word of his wife who toured and wa
