tom jones, a former nasa astronaut himself and and also author of a book called "skywalking: an astronaut'smuch for coming on. it's probably best to start with your own reflections on that day. where were you july 20th of 1969? what do you remember about it? >> great memories, connell, thanks for asking. i was on a family camping trip all the way across the country with my baltimore family, and we were camping with no tv, and i implored my parents that night of the landing to get us to a motel so we could watch it on television, watch the moon walk. really we got to enjoy the moon walk and stayed up late to see that. and i think at that moment, i said that's the kind of career i want to have. i want to follow in the footsteps of neil and mike and buzz. connell: so you were inspired that day. what's remarkable is you were almost one of the -- almost no one in the country didn't see it on television, you know? in this business we appreciate that more than most, i guess, but it was something like 90 some odd percent of the country saw the moon landing. you would never see numbers like that. yo
