. >> and now, your 11 insta- weather plus forecast with chief meteorologist tom tasselmyer. >> we approached the last 10 days of october and we're looking ahead to the winter. noa issued its winter out of today. based on the lightning out pattern in the pacific -- the la nina pattern in the pacific, they expect kind of the same pattern we saw last year. cold air across this area, warm across the gulf. the pacific northwest, northern rockies, remember how they had that tremendous snowpack last winter. the potential is there for another heavy snowfall in these areas. unfortunately, in texas it looks like the dry drought conditions will continue. that will continue over toward florida. here in this area, will have to watch what happens more in the northern atlantic to determine what happens here. but it does look like a cold, snowy, wet weather here and dry and mild across the southwest. here we have a 50/50 shot at getting a winter pattern. typical winter weather is what it looks like for us. in the meantime, fall is coming back. the highs today were just around midnight. low temperatures were

. >> now, your insta-weather forecast with chief meteorologist tom tasselmyer. >> it is late-season hurricane, and this is the view from way up above, courtesy of nasa and its satellites. you can see that well-defined eye of the storm, that is hurricane rina sitting down in the caribbean and it could have a major factor to play here in the weather down in parts of mexico and even parts of extreme self florida over the course of the next few days. cuba is in line for some of that weather as well. weather satellites are monitoring the condition from high up in space. you can see the storm they are sitting in the western part of the caribbean, not far from the yucatan peninsula of mexico. this is a powerful storm. winds at the center of 107 miles an hour. it is a category 2 hurricane and is expected to track and that general direction as we go through the next couple of days. it could reach cancun as a category 3 storm with winds of 150 miles an hour. there it spins off toward the western tip of cuba, somewhere in that channel between cuba and florida as we get into the weekend. it should weaken

than average conditions from southern california to the gulf coast, but i put my stock in what tom tasselmyer says. >> we are going to show you that outlook and it is not very definitive for our region. some spots are getting a strong signal as to what the winter will be like, but in a la nina winter, it doesn't signal much for us here. we have equal chances of being colder or warmer than normal. there is no real signal out there indicative of what we will experience here in the mid atlantic. does look like a color than normal winter and the warm weather continues for much of this out, including all of texas. the area to the north is also expected to beat wetter than normal. last year we had those blood problems in the spring. it looks like another very heavy snowpack across the great lakes and ohio valley and northern plains. dry weather is expected in florida, and it looks like for texas, the drought continues through the winter. we will see how things unfold. all it takes is one big storm and it changes your entire perspective of the winter. temperatures today have been trending downward.

. >> now, your insta-weather forecast with chief meteorologist tom tasselmyer. >> a very nice october day to day with a good deal of sunshine, blue skies, temperatures about normal for this time of year or maybe a little warmer than normal in some spots. the satellite composite shows that maryland is still enjoying a nice evening. little bit of cloud cover sneaking into the far western part of the state. most of maryland under clear skies. chilly 40's in the early morning into the 60's throughout the afternoon. we still see temperatures across the state ranging from the mid- 50's in oakland and frostburg to the mid and upper 6000 baltimore. currently 68 degrees in downtown baltimore. the futurecast shows a little bit of cloud cover coming in from the west over night. anywhere from clear at times to partly cloudy later this evening and chilly temperatures from 43 in the outlying suburbs to about 50 at the inner harbor. the wind has been brisk draft the afternoon. what is clear right now will become cloudy as we head into tomorrow. all associated with another part of the same front. the

. >> now, your insta-weather forecast with chief meteorologist tom tasselmyer. >> clouds and some scattered showers in the area today and still a few sprinkles to contend with early this evening. a line of showers or light sprinkles up toward aberdeen and almost to the elton area. in baltimore city this hour we are picking up some showers and a couple of showers out in parts of howard and montgomery counties as well. it is only a few more hours of dealing with a couple of scattered showers or a sprinkle, and then things should quiet down overnight. showers are developing along well-defined cold front. it is almost 80 degrees down around -- 40's of around harrisburg, freezing up and bradford, pa., at this hour. a big contrast to almost 80 on the south side of the front. it will produce scattered showers. you can see it invading western maryland now, and the cool air will slowly slide south and east as the evening wears on. the skies are going to clear up a bit and by early friday morning, in the colder northwestern suburbs, it could be down near freezing in south- central pennsylvania. freez

. >> now, your insta-weather plus forecast with meteorologist tom tasselmyer. >> another weather systemoving through the region, this time producing sprinkles, light showers and rain. maybe to the mountains, as some more. to the our south, there are some significant showers in the carolinas to the atlantic, something to be watched. here though, it has been a decent day around baltimore, and it should be a decent night for trick-or-treaters in the early evening. this could affect our region after midnight, into an early morning hours, so one weather system is getting through, and then after that, things will quiet down. temperatures have been impacted by the clubs. only in the 40's. in the mountains, a little wet snow could mix with the rain showers. it is much more mild all of the way up into southern new england. 57 at easton, and it salisbury, 40's in frostburg and hancock, and then 39 in garrett county. we will call it a mostly cloudy sky through the overnight. scattered light rain showers will be possible, especially towards morning. it will be above freezing. there are two weather

. >> now, your insta-weather forecast with tom tasselmyer para >> mild weather continued in our region. it will turn in some wet weather over the next 44 hours. pour now it is dry. temperatures in the upper 60s. mid 70's down toward southern maryland. cooler up toward the pennsylvania border with 68 degrees. temperatures running in the low 60's in western maryland. with cloud cover it around, it is likely will not see the temperature cool off over the course of the evening. the clouds will act as a blanket. overall, the approaching wet weather will keep it mild tonight. there will be some wet weather coming. look at all of the rain down to the south. this is making its way northbound. increasing and thickening cloudiness in the early evening. after midnight, some of the rain are rives before morning. east to northeast winds -- sunset at 6:24. southern maryland has a little bit of sunshine. low pressure to the west and in the gulf, all of those will combine to one strong storm tomorrow. the good news is this will move along at a decent clip for our areas. these two will combine into one
