ktiv's tommie clark went to the photoshoot yesterday where they recreated that memory and spoke with families about what it means to them. << "the class above us didn't have very many kids and so it was kind of like the baby boom of 1997 and so that's why we decided to line all the kids up and take a picture," said kingsley-pierson senior, kiana phelps. the nafe family wanted a special memory for their first child, so they spoke with other families from the area and decided to take one big picture of their newborns together. ktiv's tommie clark was there and tells us how one unique sculpture came to be. << "walking up to hull public library, you'll notice something new right outside the doors. it's a traditional tale that's taken on a whole new form." the library received memorial donations and decided creating a statue would be a visible gift and dedication of the community. it's an alice in wonderland themed sculpture that took over eight months to create. "it's not something that you just see in every town or at every library. it's just something different and original," said co-owner of original art source, annette van voorst. it began with drawings, a prototype was made and then the cutting...weldi ng...and a powder coating was put on before the final assembly of the piece. roy hawkins created the piece, which pictures alice walking through the looking glass and parts of the story written out. hawkins has been welding for over 50 years, but he's never this.
