the ninth annual tommy smith track meet happened this afternoon at uc berkeley. of a program sponsored by the group 100 black men of the bay area. the goal is to open door to children in the bay area who might not have access to organized sports. along with track meets, smith says the program hosts various health clinics to educate children on the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. >> bringing light to the needs for our children to be involved, not only on the track field but also in the classroom. dealing with health, fitness, knowing about things that can kill you, such as diabetes. >> he won a gold medal in the 200 meter dash in the 1968 olympics. and his black power salute caused controversy at the time. it remains a symbolic moment, though, in the history of the civil rights movement. both men attended san jose state. >>> the world's largest hiv/aids fund-raiser wrapped up this afternoon in southern california. thousands of cyclists crossed the finish line. the ride began in san francisco last saturday and more than 2,000 people participated. this yea
