it seems everyone knew tony nunez. today would have been his 28th year with the berkley fire department. we're also told that his brothers work for the contra costa fire protection district. the 54-year-old veteran firefighter was killed in an off duty accident sunday. his tractor flipped over and rolled down a hill in his property. firefighters tell us they believe he may have been preparing for the storm coming up or perhaps moving things around for fire season. fellow firefighters stood with their hands over their hearts as a vehicle carrying his body drove by to the coroner's office in martinez. at fire station 7 in the berkley hills where he worked, flags were at half staff this morning. that's where we spoke with the fire chief who tells us that his brothers work with contra costa so that fire department is sharing in the grief with berkley. >> it's going to take a lot of time to try to work through this and absorb what happened. it's completely devastating. and, you know, we still haven't come to terms with it.
