tony blinken, david gregory brought up the issue of iran. the president's remarks with reuven rivlin, the israeli president were very brief. within the very brief remarks the focus on iran was proportionate. iran must never be allowed to possess a nuclear weapon, must cease its funding and training of terrorists and militias. if there's one message, one thread of the president's advisity so far, whether it be to saudi arabia, his speech to the sunni leaders in this stop in israel, it is making iran the common enemy. >> john, you know, you're exactly right and this is the common denominator the president is trying to find with the arab states and with israel. it's ironic, because he really dug into that line about iran never getting a nuclear weapon. the nuclear agreement reached by president obama is exactly that, and it's an agreement that president trump has maligned but it does more than anything we've been able to do to put far into the future of prospect of iran getting enough materiel for a nuclear weapon. everyone is united around tha

secondly, i think that tony blinken's comments are very important here.russia is a dark cloud hanging over the trump administration. so many different allegations, so many different individuals in the trump administration, some of them have now had to recuse themselves, including the attorney general, that i think the donald trump administration needs to make a basic decision. they have to understand that this administration is under siege and will be, in terms of public opinion. and in terms of the law, and to all of these questions are answered, they ought to begin to cooperate with these investigations. and you have seen this begrudging attitude, the addition avowel that there is a -- if your intelligence community and the fbi had told the american people, as they did in january, in an unclassified letter to the american people, any normal president would have wanted to defend this country, investigate it fully. he should have launched his own investigation. so the trump administration needs to get its arms around this story and fully cooperate. i woul

how damning is that, tony blinken? >> don, you've got a few elements.e russians were trying to interfere in the campaign, in the election. we know that as part of that their tactics typically including trying to coon the people, coerce them and get them to cooperate and this is what the former director testified to that there were numerous contacts between russian officials and people affiliated with the campaign. so all of that creates a lot of smoke but it doesn't yet add up to fire. we don't know if there was actual collusion. that's exactly why we have this investigation and why former fbi director mueller is trying to get to the bottom of it. there's maybe no fire, but at some point if there's a lot of smoke you just start choking on that. >> interesting. why do you say that. explain that. >> well, all of these elements -- here's the problem. when you step back and look at what the russians were trying to do, the main thing they were trying to accomplish is sew doubt about the legitimacy of our system and make our own people an people around the wo
