stephanie and tony tantillo show us how to cook up polenta with red grapes. >> reporter: red grapes stillseason and they are great in fall, late variety with polenta. >> it's a great mix of flavors and colors. we made the polenta and there's a couple of things, when you pour it into the boiling water whisk it fast for a couple of minutes and then let it relax on low heat and occasionally with a wooden spoon. raisins and grapes, takes a half-hour in the pot. so then we are going to go ahead and put this in this nice bowl and as i'm doing this you can go ahead and layer it with these grapes which we have and then we just heat it up with a little bit of melted butter and a touch of sugar. >> steph, everything you do, you teach us to educate me also, thank you. and here's tony tantillo. >> reporter: well today's tip of the day is going to be avocados. you know, haven't had them in a longtime. sports going on, the dip, sales increase. and let me tell you why use that for the dip. when you buy them, look at my hair, nice color all the way around. nice and dark. free from any green. if there's a little bit of green, that's okay. but if you bring them home and expect them to ripen, foot chance it's not going to happen. when you bring them home, store them on the counter. not fridge. in the refrigerator, they'll turn black. and the reason why they are great in dips and salsas is the high oil content. the green variety, the other avocados like the bacon variety and the ones out of florida, they have more of a water-base to them than oil. so there you go. in the market, great pricing this time of year too which isn't bad. >> all right. you get a cold. you can't breathe through your nose. well, just put on a breathe right strip which instantly opens your nose up to 38% more than cold medicine alone. shut your mouth and say goodnight mouthb

. >> stephanie and tony tantillo tan say it's also good for salads. >> it's fall. it's pear season. >> we're still using them raw. a lot of pears are great for poaching and baking. but these are fun in salads too. >> and a quick tip, you buy them, want a beautiful color. a little bit of blemishing is okay but make sure the skin is nice and tithe. and just a slight give to the touch. store them on the counter. they'll ripen up beautifulfully. and enjoy them. if you wait too long, then they become mushy. you got the fine window in between. and when you catch it, juicy, texture, beautiful. >> with these, make sure if there's a blemish it's only skin deep. so we have some butter lettuce, cut up. and then we add in the pears which i slivered. and cut these right before you put them in because they're going to oxidize quickly. >> and they are so wonderful. >> and put extra virgin olive oil and then toss in some of the blue cheese. >> sure. >> and you see pears with blue cheese a lot. they are a great mixture. >> all right. >> and that's -- >> a little pepper maybe? >> ab
