i'm tory campbell. this morning, the fbi began an investigation at fremont's solarindra plant which, last month, announced it was shutting down and declaring bankruptcy. alex is will to let us know what is going on. >> reporter: agents shall still inside the solyndra plant executing search warrants and gathering evidence. they won't say what they are looking for but we do know that this investigation involves the department of energy. before it exhibit under, this solar company received a huge chunk of stimulus money from the government. more trouble for solyydra. fbi agents moved in on the plant. >> they executed a warrant, showed us the warrant. we are cooperating with them. >> reporter: the fbi won't say what triggered this investigation only that they are working with the department of energy's inspector general's office. two years ago, the company received a $500 million grant from the federal government. agents tell us they could be here for quite some time. >> based on the size of this location,

i'm tori campbell. talk about an unexpected arrival. a mother and her baby boy are now resting in a hospital after she gave birth on a plane bound for san francisco. new at noon, ktvu's tara moriarty joins us live from burlingame with this mother's amazing story. >> reporter: it really is a remarkable story this mother will have to tell her son some day. she did not give birth at this hospital, but rather hundreds of miles to sea and thousands of feet in the air. at 6 pounds, 1 ounce, the birth was a surprise. >> i'm not expecting it at all. >> reporter: just ten days shy of her due date, ada was flying from the phillippines when just four hours outside of san francisco, she realized something wasn't wrong. >> my tummy get pain. oh, my god, why is this happening, i told myself. >> reporter: she had her son and brother both traveling with her -- with her and she went into lane. she nurses happened to be on board. >> they said just hold on and relax and breath in and out. i don't push. in and out. the baby is there and -- the baby's cryin

i'm tori campbell. an oakland bound flight was forced to make a landing under emergency conditions this morning the & it involved two bay area airports. we spoke to the woman who found a bomb threat note. >> reporter: that's correct. she works at the bookstore at sfo. this was at an entirely different airport where she discovered the note. she told us she was cleaning off the counter top when she noticed this folded piece of paper. in red ink it said at the tops are warning. she continued to read it. it named the oakland bound flight and said it was going to explode. she said her knees buckled and she contacted her supervisor. that was around 7:00 a.m. today. the tsa, f.b.i. and oakland authorities were made aware of the situation. this is video from news chopper 2 above the oakland international airport where at kl the pilot aboard alaska airlines flight 342 from seattle safely landed the plane in a remote section of the airport. about 150 passengers were evacuated. bomb sniffing dogs inspected luggage

i'm tori campbell. >>> we're following developing news out of carson city, nevada, this noontime. three people are dead after a mass restaurant there. it happened three hours ago at the international house of pancakes in a strip mall. witnesses say a man got out of a minivan in front of the restaurant carrying a rifle. this is one of several still photos just in from the scene. they say the man shot a man on a motorcycle, walked into the ihop and started shooting. at a news conference less than an hour ago, the carson city sheriff said the man believed to be the gunman shot himself, that he's in the hospital and is not expected to survive. >> at least two of the three appear to be military folks. >> folks, this is an ongoing incident right now. we have active officers on the streets doing -- doing some work. there's not gonna be a whole lot of answers to a whole lot of questions. >> those military personnel shot and killed were from the national guard which is now assisting local police, sheriffs and the fbi in the investigation. we have a crew on the way and we will update you th

i'm tori campbell. hayward police say they have arrested le's former high school friend and the main person of interest in the case, gisele esty bon. le disappeared more than three months ago in may after her nursing duties at hayward kaiser. police arrested estebon within the last few hours. she's in custody at the hayward jail. hayward police are planning to release more information about their investigation and the arrest during a news conference at 2:15. le's body has never been found even though police have classified this case as a homicide and le's family has never given up hope, holding many searches for her and offering a $20,000 reward for any information on her disappearance. patti lee will be there at the news conference. she's also contacting family members as we speak. we'll have a live report at 5:00 and 6:00 and at ktvu.com. >>> also breaking news in other other top story -- in the past 45 minute, the carson city police department released the 911 tapes of the shooting. call after call f

i'm tori campbell. at this hour the f.b.i. is teaming up with several local agencies in an effort to track down a group masked gunmen who have hit three businesses in several bay area cities over the course of the two days. we're live from one of the places any walnut creek. >> reporter: police say they think these robbers are getting more confident. this gas station is a couple of blocks from the police station. lots of people told us it's very common to see police officers parked in this parking lot next door to it. that did not seem to faze this gang of masked robbers. that's where they parked before heading inside the food mart guns drawn. when they went into that food mart they were recorded by several cameras. all were wearing halloween masks or costumes. the clerk inside at the time told this man what happened. >> he said that six guys came in with guns, brought him in the back room, and scared him pretty well trying to get him to open the safe. he says he couldn't open the safe for them. that's all he told me. >> when

good morning, i'm tori campbell. we begin with a rally on this labor day involving lingering tensions between workers and management at a couple of hotels in san francisco. we explain what's causing the tensions this time. >> well, this rally and march started at 10:30 this morning and it is still going. we want to show you what's going on behind us. that group of about 150 to 200 people with their picket signs and their flags are standing in front of the grand hyatt hotel in san francisco. this is one of two hotels that people are protesting and workers are asking their supporters to boycott. the other hotel involved here is the hotel frank on geary street. on this labor day, about 150 to 200 workers for both hotels and their supporters took part in this rally. they started out at union square and marched down powell street. workers at the hotel frank no longer have a contract. meanwhile, workers at the hyatt have been in negotiations for two years and there are two issues holding his contract negotiations up. worke

i'm tori campbell. >> i'm dave clark.s friday, september 16th. >>> san jose police are searching for answers after an officer-involved shooting overnight. it all started when police spotted the car that had been reported stolen. allie rasmus is live at the scene, where police are trying to piece together what happened. allie? >> reporter: one question investigators are trying to find the answer to is what exactly prompted the officers to shoot. we know there was some sort of confrontation between the officers and the two people in a stolen car. now, this all happened after midnight. investigators have lessed off this scene. they have been here since midnight. some of the views have left. -- you can see there is a police presence out here. the stolen vehicle they were trying to pull over was a ford mustang and the task force was on duty last night and they are made up of the san francisco police and the chp. they saw the mustang, ran the license plate and realized the car had been stolen. they tried to pull over the car. t

. >> good morning, i'm tori campbell. it is thursday, september 1.opper ago news, a veteran san jose police officer is facing serious sex crime charges that involve teenage boys. there are concerns there could be more victims. >> reporter: the investigation does continue. overnight, the san jose police officer posted bail here at the main jail in san jose. the next step is arraignment. this officer is patrick d'arrigo. he is facing charges involving teenage boys. the officer involved is a 17 year veteran with the department. he's been in the patrol division, but he was also a school research officer for several years at leeland high school. he ended up in jail yesterday after the grand jury handed down an indictment on three different charges. this apparently happened after police in gilroy looked into that d'arrigo was having parties at his house with alcohol and young boys. >> the jurisdiction that the crime occurred in is gilroy. we have been working with the gilroy police department is for some time. we will continue to do so. we have concerns th

i'm tori campbell. alameda county sheriff deputies are investigating the shooting of an ac transit bus. tara moriarty has more on what turn the investigation is taking now. good morning, tara. >> reporter: good morning. investigators are going to be reviewing some surveillance video to see if it provides them some clues about who did this, who shot at the bus. now, they say the individual could have been hiding behind a bush. it happened at 59th street. half a dozen passengers were on line 72 when the bus was struck. luckily, no one was hurt. and authorities say that was probably because of the type of weapon that was used. authorities say the shooter used a bb gun. the plexiglass was not blown out. it was shattered but still intact. the passengers were transferred to another bus. authorities say after the bus was hit, the driver kept going for about 14 blocks and that's because operators are trained to do that, to keep moving until you feel you are in an area safe enough to pull over. we'll let you kno

i'm tori campbell. it's wednesday, september 7th. >>> we'll soon learn more about a shooting rampage at a carson city restaurant. five people died. several others were seriously injured. kraig debro is live from the national armory in san jose. and we understand there will be a news briefing in a few hours? >> reporter: in about two hours from now, the sheriff's office from carson city said they are gonna release the homicide victims from yesterday's massacre. i'm across the street from the superior court. i spoke with a guardsman about what happened in nevada. i hope to speak to more later this hour. the sheriff said the investigation will focus on finding the motive and how the shooter got his guns. eduardo sencion drove with a sign on the back of his car that said had a sign on it and once inside, he walked up to a table and shot at five national guard members. the owner of a barbecue restaurant, he backed down when he was faced with all of that gun powder. >> there was a pistol on the scene. the pri

i'm tori campbell. it's tuesday, september 20th. >>> four months after disappearing from a hospital, the remains of michelle le have been positively identified. ktvu's allie rasmus is live with questions still surrounding the investigation. >> reporter: good morning. we're outside the coroner's bureau, where the next step is to determine mish shell le's death. now, her remains were found four mounts after she disappeared and a very long and exhaustive search. she disappeared on may 22nd. she was at kaiser hospital taking a nursing class. she left for a break and never returned. cell phone records show she was in the niles canyon area the day she vanished and that's where a group of volunteers were done -- conducting a search. saturday afternoon, one of the volunteers found the remains on 680 near pleasanton. the volunteer who found the remains is the mother of a murdered teenager. amber dubose was murdered after disappearing in san francisco. she was leading a search team in her daughter's honor in the

i'm tori campbell. >>> we're starting with developing news out of san jose.lmost a two-hour standoff between police and an armed man is over. ktvu's paul chambers is there telling us how it started and ended. >> reporter: it was about two hours that police negotiators got the man to successfully leave the denny's restaurant behind me. the man was held up inside the restaurant alone for an hour and a half. >> at about 14:-- [indiscernible] the male entered the restaurant with a knife, ordered everybody out and threatened to kill himself. officers responded out there and negotiated with this individual and eventually were able to get him to surrender peacefully. >> reporter: here's a view from chopper 2 as police surrounded the rest strawntsdz and closed down -- restaurant and closed down this busy area. he was transported to a mental hospital for evaluation. the restaurant post add sign opening in -- posted a sign saying it will open in about an hour. we tried to talk to workers inside and others as they left but they refused. live in san jose, i'm paul chambe
