they gather in center town. the british troops are coming on the main road, and this very funny scene which the party marches out to see what's going on and suddenly they are not that far from british troops coming towards them. they quickly get an about-face. everyone groups in center and a retreat up to the north part of town. and the kings men cornered themselves in the tavern in the center of town and they began looking around into houses in the town, searching for military supplies. a lot of which are then dispersed into the countryside because people know something is going to happen. but they do find a fair bit. two or three companies of men are dispatched to hold the british with another to come within and going on to the farmhouse. so two or three, probably 125, 150 men are holding the bridge. there's also a south bridge in town, too into his over the river. soldiers are sent there, too, to hold that bridge. those are the two into us into the town. if you hold them you've got it. so the kings troops are
