tracee wilkins is live in arlington for us this morning with a look at the damage. tracee? >> reporter: good morning, aaron. we're happy to report there's lots of clean-up happening here in the northern section of arlington. take a look behind me. you can see the tree crew is doing a lot of work to take care of that road. old dominion drive looked terrible. when we first pulled up, it looked the same way it did yesterday. lots of tree limbs there on the roadway, but as you can see, they're trying to get it cleaned up. this is one of a few roads closed in arlington after sunday's storm damage. we have both arlington crews and dominion crews working to restore power and open some of these roads. here's a closer look at what this crew is doing. we still have a number of dark intersections and roads littered with tree limbs and large debris. this after sunday's storm ripped through the washington area and seemed to cause significant yet isolated damage to just this corner of arlington. we saw lots of heavy, healthy, and large tree limbs torn from trees and landing on homes, car

tracee wilkins is live in arlington this morning with a look at the damage there. tracee. >> reporter: it's a good thing the sun is coming up, and this is why. folks were driving up on this tape pretty quickly before they realized, yes, this is closed off here at williamsburg boulevard and old dominion. no lights working at this intersection because of the downed power line we have between the two pieces of yellow tape. i hope you can see this power line. it's one of many we have found in this area. some of them marked, some of them not marked after last night's severe storms. let me show you the damage we found down the street here. a whole tree was leaned on top of a power line. now, numbers of issues here, and i know this is going to be some work for the power crews as they get out here and try to figure out which one of these power lines is causing the issue that has this entire neighborhood dark. we have been seeing the numbers decrease this morning. we started out with like more than 10,000 people without power. now we've got those numbers under 10,000. plenty
