tracy, are -- from the rain. tracy, are we going to stay dry? >> thankfully nothing like that going on here in the bay area. we want to show you the high def doppler to show you that even though the clouds are still out there and a little ominous-looking, not a lot going on with the doppler and we have a few areas misting out there but the rainfall has moved out. and how much rainfall did we pick up? well, let's take a look. .82 inches of rainfall in santa rosa. and just a little bit shy of an inch in mill valley. and half of an inch in san francisco. i'm rounding up. you can see half of an inch in oklahoma and about a quarter of an inch in concord. a little more than a tenth of an inch in livermore as well as in san jose. and our forecast for the afternoon, mostly cloudy, and maybe a little drizzle out there. and as we move into tonight, partly cloudy conditions but fog is expected to develop. so we are going to be drying out tomorrow, and that's going to be thursday, as well as friday, and just in time for christmas, another storm moves toward

for your traffice, here's liz. >> thanks, tracy. thank you, tracy. we have our first accident since we have been on the air at 4:30. it's in san jose. southbound 101 just before hellyer, sounds like a solo car crash but an ambulance is heading to the scene for possible injuries. it's still early. we are not sure about lanes blocked but our sensors aren't showing any slow. the rest of the south bay looks good. one more live look at 280 through san jose. i mentioned this during my last traffic report. i just got this press relief from the assignment desk. apparently today december 15 is the most dangerous day for california drivers, an average of 23% more accidents happening today than any other day of the year according to a study from allstate insurance company. they blame travel, holiday shopping and the weather, which we're at least getting a break from today. but be careful. stay off those cell phones and drive slowly. mass transit if you want to use it and avoid the roads altogether, everything is running on time for bart, ace, muni and caltrain.

right, tracy? >> oh, yes. so far, it is all about the fog.ut tomorrow, it will be all about the heavy rainfall, and i love the saying, thick as pea soup. i think that counts. yes, it is pretty bad out there right now. this fog advisory has expired. typically that is based on one- half mile visibilities or less, for an expended period of time. we no long ver that but we have visibility concerns. let's take a look at the forecast for this afternoon. we're expecting some sunshine, and eventually the fog will clear out and leaving us with partly cloudy conditions for the coastline and some clouds around the bay, and fog still expected well inland in the valleys but partly cloudy conditions otherwise, and temperatures in the lower to the upper 50s. and for tonight, mostly cloudy conditions, and a small chance of showers enters the forecast tonight and inland for the bay and mostly cloudy conditions along the coast, but the temperatures are in the lower to the upper 40s and here is what we're watching, satellite and radar, clouds already coming in

we're wondering, tracy, is it going to be a washout? >> i don't think the entire day will be a washout but the morning will be. take a look. here's a look at our hi-def doppler. and we have been looking at rainfall most of it pretty light in nature but we do have some heavier rainfall, some downpours in the system and we know that because of the yellow that you see here. and that's when you're more likely to run into that heavier rainfall. it's all moving to the east so light rainfall currently in santa rosa down through mill valley, even moving into parts of oakland and concord out in the east bay. we are expecting this rainfall to be in the forecast for this morning. and showers will still be possible during the day. moving in just a little more down to the peninsula, you can see again a heavier batch of rainfall moving in through pacifica, more light showers through fremont and milpitas, and just offer the coastline a lot more that's still to come. so that's why the forecast for the morning will include cloudy conditions, showers are
