tracie potts is live on capitol hill. what is the state of the race right now in florida for both campaigns? >> reporter: well, florida is clearly the key for both of them. the road to the white house as it is often being said this year seems to be going through florida. you've got 29 electoral votes. both candidates have been spending a lot of time there. hillary clinton did her last and donald trump has been there a couple days, although today he's headed to d.c. to open his hotel and doing campaigning in north carolina. but let's talk about the numbers in florida. clinton is ahead, but not by much in most polls. about 3%. maybe a little bit more. that's why she's telling her supporters down there not to be complacent, because it's not certain in florida right now. but she could certainly lose the state if enough democrats don't early voting state. a lot of people, 1.6 million, have already voted in florida. and right now republicans are slightly outpacing the democrats. >> tracie potts on capitol hill for us. thank you
