tracy. it will get bigger if we don't get some rainfall soon. the farmers i've been talking with out here in south jersey say, yeah they're dealing with this pretty bad situation out here. they're dealing with the brunt of this recent lack of rainfall. the sandy soil out here requires quite a bit of water. the farms really just aren't getting it right now. this, of course is the time for planting sweet corn and tomatoes tomatoes. i spoke with several farmers saying they're not planting as much as they would like or having to use their own water close to 24/7 to keep the crops growing. >> as far as irrigation goes it's a lot of extra time and input that you need to get the crops out of the ground let alone keep them growing because that's when it's crucial. when they're young, you can't let them dry out. when the roots are very shallow as they are, you have to really keep the ground pretty moist for them. they can dry out in no time. >> here's something. new jersey saw rainfall at more than a

katy. >> reporter: hi, tracy. we heard from the president of amtrak who says regular service between philadelphia and new york could be restored as early as monday. there is some good news there but unfortunately until then the ripple effect continues. some good news however, from the derailment scene is that crews are making progress out there, from sky force 10 we saw them hauling in new sections of track yesterday. while they do not expect that stretch rail to be restored as i said until monday. amtrak announced regular service between boston and new york has been fully restored. from philadelphia south to washington, d.c. trains are still running on a modified schedule. that is expected to be restored also over the weekend hopefully by monday. septa's trenton line is also shut down because it shares rail tracks with amtrak's northeast extension. i talked to a septa spokesperson who tells me in the next half hour they will have employees along the west trenton line helping travelers navigate the changes. coming
