here in the united states, queer and trans people are subjected to shocking levels of violence, trans women especially. trans women of color fade extraordinary danger with brutal and unsolved murders happening almost monthly. as david mentioned, 2017 was the deadliest year on record for lgbtq americans according to the national report released by the new york city antiviolence project. there was an 86% increase in the murders of trans people and hiv positive people in the united states. nearly 70% of lgbt people right here in san francisco report having experienced physical violence. 48% report being victimed of sexual violence, and 81% report being harassed simply for being queer or trans, for being who they are. this is completely outrageous and requires further action to change what we consider culturally acceptable as a city and as a society. we here's what personally gives me hope. while david received so much vitriol for choosing to support harvey milk, he also received a tremendous amount of support. people shared with him how meaningful it would be to fry fry -- fly in san fra
