kids, trans middle school kids, trans high school kids. the huge value of sports is about participation. it's about connection to community and this bill would stigmatize them. this bill would subject them to more isolation than the bullying that they often face and the physical dangers. trans kids are in need of our protection, not stigmas asian. despite these words not being in the -- stigmatization. despite these words not being in the bill, let me read one of the final paragraphs from the governor of utah. the governor of utah as vetoed a very similar bill. he wrote it, spencer cox, wrote to stuart adams who is the president of senate and brad wilson, speaker of the house of utah. he said more importance, there is a more important reason this veto. i'm not an expert on transgender is him. i have struggled to understand much of it and the science is confronting. when in doubt, i try to air on the side of kindness, --err on the side of kindness. there are great kids who face struggles and here are the numbers that have most impacted my d

i have had trans family members tell me or trans, uh, montanans and their parents. tell me about suicide attempts in their family, including one trans teenager who attempted to take her life well, watching a hearing on one of these anti trans bills. that's the impact that this legislation has, and that's why i rose to defend my community and hold the republicans accountable for their actions. so obviously, a lot of opposition to the transgender community is rooted in ignorance and bigotry without question. what might you say to somebody who says look, there just isn't enough research on ah , trans kids getting these procedures done, whether it's puberty blockers or, you know a more severe step, such as a sex reassignment surgery. and sometimes it happens every now and then, that somebody regrets it, and we want to make sure that that doesn't happen. what would your message be to that person? i would say first and foremost, we acknowledge when it comes to other procedures, any other type of medical care? we go with the recommendations of the major medical association
