it's our live weather camera looking out from our kpix 5 studios looking towards the transamerica pyramid. we could see the tip-top with the glowing red light there because the sky is clear. currently 49 degrees in santa rosa to 65 in san francisco. wow! it's mild out the door 53 however in livermore. wind speeds have been under 10 miles per hour but later today will be rotating a little bit offshore north-northeast 5 to 10 but then onshore westerly five to 10 miles per hour late day. satellite and radar, the coast is clean. we are under the influence of -- if this was a little closer that would be our classic offshore flow. temperatures in the coast are not going top in the 80s. tomorrow 70s will be the warmest day of the workweek. i want to update you on hurricane newton. a category 1 on a scale of 1 to 5, the weakest packing winds up to 90 miles per hour. you can see that well defined eye as it pushes onshore. as it continues to lift up north, it will be downgraded to a tropical storm and we are expecting some of that remnants to work its way into tropical storm force into the arizona

but right now 4:35, stepping out the door, this is the scene looking out from the transamerica pyramid due east. bay waters are flat. it will become choppy later today with that small craft advisory going into effect in the late afternoon hours. otherwise, we have clear skies across the bay. pristine conditions as we peer out towards the port of oakland. currently 54 degrees in santa rosa and in comparison to 24 hours ago it had already dipped into the upper 40s but with the warmer air mass in place it's slower to cool. 60 in livermore. upper 50s in san francisco. satellite-radar when you see this right here, the lack of any low clouds and fog stacked up to the coast you know we are seeing at least a slight offshore flow but direct result is we have a "spare the air" day in effect for this wednesday. unhealthy levels of smoke and haze from the soberanes fire to the south lifting up into the bay area. more with the southwest breeze. same holds true in the santa clara valley. otherwise, the closer you get to the coast more moderate air quality. here's how i'm playing the numbers for toda

in the transamerica pyramid looking east, you can see the bay bridge. we have increasing clouds but for the most part people reporting clear skies down from 97 in livermore to right now 62. san jose is at 60 down from 93 experienced on wednesday. winds are still for the most part under 10. they are variable all over the place but later today they will be more consistent out of the west onshore 10 to 20 miles per hour. so with the return of the onshore push, the beaches, you are going to see the return of the marine layer. around the bay today sunny and seasonal. and inland temperatures dropping by a good 15 degrees in many neighborhoods. in fact, san francisco, you, too along the coast will see a 15-degree drop. that's all because of this right here. we see the influx of the low clouds, the fog, the marine layer, 1,000 feet deep beginning to lift to the bay. this is a close-up of the satellite-radar and we have patchy stratus around concord, clayton and walnut creek. otherwise we are starting to see the low clouds spreading to the santa rosa area guerne

as we look from the top of the transamerica pyramid out toward the bay, and santa rosa got up to 83 degrees today. so in parts of the bay area still warm. concord nice at 77. at this hour, livermore is 13 degrees cooler than it was yesterday at this time. so cooling trend that began tuesday continues today and it will continue tomorrow. numbers will come down a little bit tomorrow as this low pressure comes down. it also will bring up the breezes. you can see the rain that kenny was mentioning a few showers down there in southern california. and on the tail end of that trough we had sprinkles this morning, too. thing about news is probably the cooler -- the big news is probably the cooler weather. on average these are numbers for the first day of autumn. tomorrow in san francisco, just 66. san jose only 70. oakland 68. concord pleasant but only 75 off its average mark of84. time lapse this is what should be happening if the atmosphere behaves itself over the next 24 hours. you can see clouds building up along the san mateo county coastline and maybe a few sprinkles early tomorrow. it clears
