the idea would be that we distribute -- particularly related to this transbay project. on the west side, we have traditionally had questions about how dpt cpo's are allocated. we have never really gotten a good response about how it is we and effectively distribute folks across the city. can you tell me a little bit about that and how we would be able to maintain the needs and other parts of the city while we distributing some of the sources to the tjpa request? >> in the case of the tjpa, this is on overtime sign up. so we are not using the regular resources. it is on a sign that basis. as far as daily resources, we currently have a limited number, so we allocate resources across residential parking permit areas and then general enforcement across the downtown corridor. metering enforcements, a special detail going around doing sidewalk enforcement. we spread the resources we currently have across the city seven days a week, 24/7. we have some hiring plans going on right now also for a small number of resources while we are looking at how sfpark and some of that realig

this is the construction site for the transbay transit center. it's sunday morning, so there's no construction activity right now, there is questions on when it could resume because of that accident. there are different accounts of exactly what went wrong. pg and e says the worker sawed through a power line. late last night, a spokesperson told ktvu, a worker was actually driving an excavator, and that the machine hit the power line. we're still trying to get clarification on that. the construction worker suffered third degree burns to his hands and face. the pg and e crews came to the scene after the accident happened to reroute electricity around the site. there was power here yesterday. pg and e explained. >> it's not always feasible in some cases to cut power to many, many customers while a construction project is. just as it won't be feasible to cut their power, water, sewer, gas, or service for many years. >> reporter: the new transit center is scheduled to open in 2017. pg and every, and cal-osha are investigating what happened. constructi

after he was seriously injured when he made contact with a live power line while working on the new transbay terminal project. patti lee is in san francisco where we're learning what led up to that accident. >> reporter: three separate investigations are currently under way to address that question by pgd, the fire department and cal-osha, and until they're completed, this construction project has been put on hold. on the 100 block of freemont, a big gig has been halted. earlier today, crews were working on relocating underground utilities for the transit center. but at 12:30 this afternoon, a subconsultant for the company m squared hit a high voltage wire, the sparks causing third degree burns to his hands and face. >> they were trying to clear some facilities out. >> pg & e says because construction on the terminal is a multi-year multi-phased project, it won't shut off power to the line because it will impact too many customers. >> it hurts, it just hurts. >> reporter: these veterans of the construction business walked by the site to find out what happened and were devastated to hear one

i think we have the perfect opportunity to work on that to the development plan in transbay. i think that the future is bright in that regard. and i think there is, hopefully, going to be a resurgence of the percentage of the work force that does business in san francisco. at one time, it was as high as 30%. i think it is down to 16%. i think with what we have, the wonderful area we have for businesses there that is already being built out, you know, it is appropriate that we be 25% to 30% of the work force in the bay area. the only downside on transit in that regard is, and we're served by barred from many directions and from caltrain, and unfortunately, because marin and never became part of the bart system, it does not go out to in northwestern san francisco in marin, which is an area that has to be analyzed for the future. finally, i guess there was the question about, you know, the metropolitan area and what if it includes. there are mixed opinions as to whether san francisco bay area includes the south bay also. the census bureau and others consider them two different m

high-speed rail, the transbay terminal, the electrification of caltrain, the subway, and the van ness and geary bus projects. in addition, we need to improve taxi availability, especially during peak times and for people who live in our neighborhoods and for disabled populations. we must do everything in our power to address pedestrian injuries and fatalities. making our streets and sidewalks safer and more enjoyable for everyone is a priority. i would also like the mta to continue making bike improvements. we have seen nearly a 60% increase in the number of people riding their bikes over the past a few years, and the new director should continue the positive trend. finally, the mta should encourage adoption of electric vehicles. as you may have already heard, i myself am now writing in a wonderful chevy -- riding in a wonderful chevy volt. i hope the mta will stay focused on increasing the ev infrastructure for this city. that is quite a bit for an mta board and directed to do, and i want to share with you that as i assist in my role to review with the mta board who they will select,

i have on the overhead the general area in the transbay terminal area. in particular, it is this parking lot, here, on folsom. essentially, and the area in pink is being exchanged for the area in yellow in the photograph on a overhead now. tjpa and the city, which permitted the transfer of state property -- to the city, and subsequently we are before you now with this exchange agreement that squares off the ownership of the private parcel and city parcel. it facilitates the city parcel through the redevelopment agency, a party to that agreement, to allow for the development of affordable housing in the future. so this is step one of a secondary step. the particulars of this exchange are 746 square feet going in one direction, 2278 square feet in the other direction. the benefit of that, a differential of approximately $69,637. those are funds owed to the city, providing more land than the seller is provided to us. therefore, it is not quite an even exchange, but the agreement calls for the payment to be made by the llc to the city. supervisor chu: thank
