the other good news i want to give is the transbay highway facilities opened bids last week on the steel structure. when it went out to bid the first time it was one giant package. we had one bigger that came in significantly over the estimate. bids have come in 59 million dollars lower than previous so [inaudible] still doing its due diligence on this. they expect in july to adopt a revised project budget for phase one. there will be an update on this at the july programs committee. the last two things i'll mention is we're going to bring forward this next month /aos [inaudible] policy action on the /kweupbt street location and /kweupbt jailing connecter roll is responsible to maintain because it's on its [inaudible] needs to be replaced but the community wanted to ensure there is adequate community access as well as preserving the ability for potential station. we had a meeting where we made good progress including improving local circulation, coordinating construction schedules and promoting local job and contracting opportunities. lastly, attached for your reference -- it's the end o

only eight trains running each hour between the transbay tube instead of 23. delays caused by an accident between two maintenance vehicles just after 2:30 this morning a modified truck, like the orange one pictured here was sitting near the tube when a welding vehicle, roughly the size of a freight train car apparently lost control heading down a drill hill and crashed into it. those two vehicles dragged for a while. that's what caused the damage to the third rail that we needed to repair. >> reporter: third rail carries 1,000 volts of current powering the train. nearly 400 feet of the electrical rail was damaged along with 38 insulatorinsulato b.a.r.t. crews only repaired a third of them but the temporary fix allows the trains to run through, albeit slower, 25 miles an hour instead of 65. ac transit provided more bus service at the 20th street terminal in downtown oakland while others took the ferry instead. >> i went down to the b.a.r.t. station and there was really -- there was only one track running and it was running in the other direction. so i thought i

the folsom rams project is a project that is part of the transbay redevelopment program. the purpose of the project is to realign the off ramp at folsom and fremont. as you see in this -- as you see in this drawing, the ramp on the right side crosses the whole block 8, making it hard to develop that block. and, so, the purpose of this project is basically to realign the ramp, having the ramp that now goes to folsom run parallel to the one on fremont. [speaker not understood] as shown in this drawing. in september 2007, the san francisco redevelopment agency entered into an agreement with the authority for managing this project. basically the job of the authority was to conduct a solicitation to hire a consultant and to manage the process with the consultant ands caltrans. in february 2008, the authority ~ entered into a contract for $200,000 with mark thomas and company for doing the planning, environmental, and engineering services for the project. however, before the project was completed, the state decided the redevelopment agency in 2011, therefore the project was put

we are still responsible for doing major development areas in mission bay, transbay and hunters point shipyard candle stick point and we are going to work with their goals and production in those areas and lastly as success or and investment and infrastructure there is a particular obligation that they must replace 6700 units of affordable housing in the 60s 70s and it's called their housing demolition what some know as urban renewal. there is still 5800 units that need to be replaced. with the loss of redevelopment, the mayor's office of housing, has grown now to 8,000 units for the foreseeable future. >> we have a few documents and plans that we follow as our guiding documents just to put our work in context. one of the most important documents that we use is the consolidated plans. it's a five year planning document that we are mandated to prepare with a lot of public comments as how we use our federal entitlements and all of our public service grants and affordable housing production and trying to meet the needs of low income communities in san francisco. another key document is t

when one maintenance vehicle rear-ended the other, damaging 380 feet of the third rail on the transbay tube tracks that take trains from san francisco to the east bay, bart officials said. trains were using one track to pass through the tube until shortly after 9 a.m., when temporary repairs were completed and regular service resumed at reduced speeds. initially, a second round of repairs was scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. and continue through the afternoon, causing 30-minute delays. instead, full service will continue through the tube, slower speeds, officials said. trains are expected to be delayed by three to five minutes until service ends for the day, according to bart officials. once the system closes, begin. >> to hours from hayward >> two and a half hours from pleasant hill.
