i am going to give you an update in terms of a transitional kindergarten program. district staff has been working for the past few weeks to work on implementation. we have processed all the applications that have been coming in. we give parents and families an extended time line when we announced that we were expanding the program to 5 sites instead of the two originally offered. we have a little bit over 190 applicants who have come back to apply for our transitional kindergarten program and we will be offering it at the five sites that we previously announced. what we have also refined is our placement and assignment process for the transitional kindergarten. mr. trout has passed out a document that outlines the way that we are going to be making assignments into our program in the event that there is more demand for specific sites than there are seats available. we're going to mirror our student assignment process in a way that we are going to use tiebreakers to make student assignments. they will be identified slightly differently than what we use for our k-12

make transit more reliable on the court or -- corridor. in most cases, the dedicated transit lanes. we reduce the delays that come from people having to step up on to the bus. a couple of other features including some signal priority for the buses themselves. as i mentioned, we're in the middle of the environmental review process. there are four alternatives. i will go quickly through them. alternative one is there is no project based alternative. we can have dedicated lanes for the buses on the sides on the curb lanes. or three and four in which we run the buses in the center. alternative three being a center alternative that has dual medians and four being one that has a center median. the difference between three and four is which side of the bus you board on. four require stores and the left so you can get on the bus from the median. -- the doors on the left so you can get on the bus from the medium. others include, there are a number of classes of bus service. we want to keep them all. 38 lead to become -- limited will become the new traffic light. we're keeping -- new services

there would be an intersection where there would be a transition. the buses would have a green light factor ahead of the cars, it would get into and out of the land without conflict. we do have that kind of design in mind. another special note we're thinking about is the intersection of geary and masonic. the street configuration is complex. there are some side lanes that go up and have the intersection with masonic. there are constraints we will need to deal with. how to provide a dedicated bus lane and station in this area. we have done some thinking about it and we have some options to share with the public. there are some options that include the station and the bus lane, the dedicated bus line on the surface and there are options that put the dedicated bus lane in the part that goes underneath masonic and puts the station near that as well. i will move onto fillmore. fillmore is a similar type of intersection configuration to masonic. geary goes underneath more. three lanes go under and side lines stay on top to have the intersection with ellmo

funding for the transit center is vital to the transbay project. the city did convene a working group to ensure the entirety of the transbay project was completed as soon as possible. it would permit taller buildings than would otherwise be allowed in exchange for financial contributions, in the form of development impact fees and a special tax. the plan would allocate $45 million in development impact fees and $340 million in tax revenues for the downtown rail station. because the cost is in excess of $2 billion, the funding is crucial. it also allocates funding for impact fees and taxes in amounts sufficient to build the infrastructure required, including a rooftop part in streetscape implements to make transbay a complete neighborhood. i look forward to discussions with my colleagues over the next month and a half. i want to thank the former planning redevelopment agency and mares office of housing. speaking of gross receipts, i am cosponsoring the gross receipts tax ordinance that supervisor of loews has brought forward today. we are the only c

it is not just a multi modal transit center, but a comprehensive plan for the transit center to becomeew downtown. san francisco is no longer a city that is afraid of growth. we have had those debates in the past, and we have gone through them, but we have embraced smart growth in the right places. around our voter-mandated terminus of high-speed rail is the right place for development. we spent years planning the extension of the california -- caltrain an extension of california real, and many of you in this room have been part of that, and now, it is time not only to get it done, but to get it done right because we have a lot to do. growth, all over the country, but particularly for me, growth must have been and must be done and must be done in a balanced and equitable manner to achieve regional, environmental, economic goals. great land use and transportation together. the transit district plan we have, for example, will add 11 acres of new open space to the center of our city, including a five-acre elevated part. 4000 units of housing. 1400 of those units affordable. in addition to
