that meets for accountability we also report to the board of supervisors and offices of the transportation authority committee and are organized by safe streets, safe people, safe vehicles and vision contribute to all those that are critical to contributing to safe streets and legislative agenda is what i'll be describing. core principles align with public health. a focus on saving lives. on prevention and on equity. we we know we will not realize vision zero with respect to our streets without equity and a focus on streets. speed is the leading predictor whether or not someone survives a crash and vision zero focuses on speeds and the tip of the spear is creating safe streets for engineering and education and enforcement and engagement through safe people and creating safe people in our city fleet and also with respect to emerging technologies and san francisco being front and center with respect to those issues nationally. this is our third action strategy. our first action strategy defining what vision zero was and aligning more to what we call the safe systems approach. the systematic approach t

original implementation plan for transit center included funds for bart, for the transit, transportation authority, to studies, and then for m.t.a. for actual vehicles and expenditure plan includes line items for them as well. and visitation valley, is not a plan area per se, it was a fee created by supervisor maxwell along with the community in 2005 to leverage value from some of the high density plan areas. we have been kind of allocating money to the agencies as we receive the funds because there was not a whole plan. our staff along with m.t.a., rec and park, public works have been working with the community on an ongoing basis to identify spending for those funds. this year they are looking to start work on improvements to visitation valley -- excuse me, visitation boulevard. also with the hertz playground. and just very quickly as i mentioned earlier, we looked to implement these projects, both through providing allocations to the agencies, and also in kind. some that we have completed thus far, completed including dagget park, pedestrian path part of the waller alignment, dogpatch art plaza

. ♪ multiple airlines and transportation authorities worldwide are grounding the boeing 737 max afteru been airlines crash on sunday. the faa is in the u.s. is under pressure to take a more conservative stance even after the agency insists the plane airworthy. to talk about the fast-moving story, we have our reporter. a few minutesking ago, the eu aviation regulator has also suspended all 737 max flights. are we expecting more and more countries to follow suit and why is on the u.s. moving? >> at this point, we have seen a significant number of major countries come out and call for grant tinker. you mention the european union, the u.k., china, singapore. pressure on the faa and they are out there almost on their own holding the beacon for airworthiness. at this point, it is still premature to say what is happened in the crash and we do not know if it is connected to what has happened at lion air crash in the fall. there's something to be said for being conservative about this or you are seeing passengers being concerned about getting on the airplanes. you are seeing regulators elsewhe

department, the san francisco municipal transportation agency, san francisco puc and the transportation authority. it extends from stuart to octavia boulevard. market street is the busiest corridor for people walking, biking and taking transit. it is our premier cultural boulevard. and mobility is a key objective of the better market street project. by mobility, we mean safety and accessibility. this slide shows why the need to improve safety and accessibility on market street is so important. the collision rate within the project area is over 20 times the state average for similar corridors. the corridor also includes three of the top five intersections for cyclists-involved injuries at octavia, gough and 5th street. and two of the top five intersections for pedestrian-involved injury collisions at 5th and 7th street. there is a high concentration of vulnerable people, including people with disabilities, children and seniors who live and work along the corridor. mid market is a high consumer area for people with disabilities and some of the fatalities in the last slide include -- have included w

the transportation authority saying you have to have 1000 hours in the cockpit after 737 as pilot, previous incarnation of a 737 before they let you fly the new 737 max. cayman airlines, ethiopian airlines and indonesia groundedded fleets but not so in the u.s. the statement from boeing, the investigation is in its early stages but at this point based on information available we do not have any basis to issue new guidance to operators. they're not suggesting that the plane should be grounded. they have orders for more than 5000 aircraft. tremendously important for the airline. they have only delivered 350. suggestion is that the profit for boeing could be as much as a third of its profit attributed to the aircraft. for those concerned who is flying these aircraft in the u.s., largely we're here at midway airport. that is where southwest flies. the biggest customer in the world for this new aircraft. they have ordered 280 of them. they have taken delivery on more than 30. united ordered 136 and taken delivery on 12. american airlines, 100 but 22 delivered. u.s. carriers continue to fly the a
