and i walk through how we promote the alternatives in transportation options at our agency as well as insure compliance with the healthy air ordinance and then walk you through how green the fleet has become and it is a testament to a great deal of accomplishment and hard work by the commission and the staff at the puc. and then, lastly, and very briefly, on how fleet preparedness also helps us with the disaster response and preparedness as well as our operating or operating needs. and fleet management and operation, we talk about alternatives in transportation options and i think first, one of my additional responsibilities with the puc is to help run what i call the electronic plumbing and all of the it systems within the agency and so first of all we encourage our employees to consider not traveling, to consider instead doing face time or video conferencing and tele conferencing that is regularly done acrs our agency because we are unique in some ways and working in seven counties every single day about 1800 people, and along 170 mile corridor. and so that made us a specific target

the fourth pillar is integrating technology into the surface transportation system.round gadgets these days, seems to me. we expect of information at our fingertips to make decisions on the fly, to adapt to changing situations. and the american people are going to expect that the relationships with the infrastructure is no different. it's time to make sure that our concrete asphalt and steal our air traffic control system, our water pipes and other infrastructure, are smart. they will tell us when they're wearing out and then we can really worry about it. this is what americans do. we innovate, create, think outside the box, make the absolute most out of the resources we have. there are some exceptions. one might look at u.s. infrastructure system. now, the private sector know-how is already a leading congestion, helping travelers plan ahead, unlocking the gridlock at airports and improving safety, infusing more technology in infrastructure planning, construction and maintenance has the potential to be a game changer for the infrastructure system in the 21st century.

something happen, we know this, our transportation, our water.if we do not have water, we are going to have a week before people start dying without water. also presenting this is much more core to national security is very critical. i am not as optimistic. my colleagues are. >> are you still optimistic? >> i am optimistic. if you look at eight period of time from now until the elections, there are some things we have to do or are getting set to do. everybody talks about lame-duck deals. every now and then, every three decades or something, we will have one that does a lot of stuff. but i really believe that there are three or four things that we will have a shot before they are finished. one is we will get a tax deal done. taking those away would be another huge tax increase on american industry, which would affect jobs. i do believe that we are absolutely crazy if we do not take advantage of having passed an immigration bill out of the senate. going back to do it again might be harder. and do something rational in the house and put it together.

because the pressures of everyday transportation in the city are tense. and the road ways are being shared by so many modes and i kind of felt, why are we nickel and diming people on sundays and you know the hurt is not so much paying the meters, it's that $75 hit when you get a citation for having been crossed that meter time by a few minutes on a sunday when people are least expecting it and they are trying to just feel a little bit more ease on that weekend, and try to have a more positive conversation with our public that if we start nickel and diming you on those sunday meters would you help us with this bond that doesn't increase your property taxes? everywhere i've gone, barbara, they've indicated a very positive thing -- and i'm not taking sides on the side versus non-car on this, i'm just suggesting that we can have a better conversation with the public in general about our transportation needs if we don't have these other things that really irk people, these things that are relatively financially small, but they just say you are not, we're not f

yesterday, there was a transportation hearing. and it went very well, and i think that if someone felt that taxis took over and i think that it was a point that we were invited and we needed to speak out about the concerns about late night transportation, and i think that it is important that we are part of the discussion to discount being part of the discussion and the need for it is beyond the purview of the commissioner heres and to really publicly state that you call one of these rogue vehicles here to here, and pier to pier ride sharing which you know full well as a commissioner that is not what it is. and as a member of the commission, it is for you to allow for the legal vehicles that are permitted by the city and yet you are yourselves have to go to the venues or you try to bust the venues that are not permitted and i think that you should not be on this commission. and it could come back to haunt you later. >> thank you. >> is there any additional public comment, again on items not on the agenda? >> i don't see any, so th
