putting the brakes on this year's holiday travel. it's 529 statewide in california right now, 526 a week ago. reporting from rodeo jana katsuyama ktvu fox two news, oakland international is expecting a nearly 88% increase in travelers over the labor day holiday weekend compared to pre-pandemic levels. the airport estimates 210,000 travelers will pass through the airport through tuesday. the busiest days expected to be today and monday. it's also the busiest day for travel at san jose mineta airport. the airport expects nearly 22,000 outbound travelers today. officials say this year's labor day travel period is from now through next friday, next friday, expected to be the second busiest day for the airport. there's something else many travelers have to prepare for. caltrans has closed all westbound lanes of interstate 80 so that the final phase of repaving can begin. ktvu went inside the construction zone after the highway was closed. and you can see the work that is underway there. here's a look at where interstate 80 will be closed
