we have around as the ruins of the central tredegar foundry. this is where tredegar started. this is where they first produced their iron implements and we have the ruins of that today. this is the home of two civil war museums for the richmond area. the former pattern storage building, in 2000, the national parks service opened up the visitors center for the battlefield park. and then in 2006, the american civil war sensor -- american opened up inter the 1861 gun foundry. that is a private museum that looks at the civil war is from the perspective of the union and african-americans. i think that tredegar is significant in a lot of ways, owing to its civil war impact. the cannons that it produced led the confederacy to a lot of its victories. it was also the chief employer in the area for a number of years.
