the trust, as tremaine just eluded to, is wider. it's just not a good outcome for anyone on either front. >> you are calling for, the family is calling for, the appointment of a special prosecutor. why is that? what do you think that will do? why is that appropriate in this case? >> well, we think, at this point, it's crystal clear. what happened, chris, recently, darren wilson was scheduled to appear on another case. in fact, the case that he received the award for in a video that has been airing on the internet. he did not show up for that case. it became clear to us that wait a minute, that's where the conflict lies. there's a clear conflict with this prosecutor's office in seeing that officer wilson is not indicted. and i'll tell you why. if he is indicted, cases like that and other cases and potentially all cases that darren wilson was scheduled the appear on or has appeared are now in jeopardy. they can call those cases into question. so if he's clear, then, obviously, those cases can go forward. as they're all being handled b

joining me now from missouri is tremaine lee. good to see you. >> likewise. >> what is the feel on the ground right now? does it feel like a racial powder keg or are things calming? >> at the moment things appear to be calm. there is a steady wind and cold rain keeping many people at bay. but there is a sense of this underlying tension, anger and a clear racial line running straight through this. the killing of the man in st. louis wednesday night reignited and energized people whose passions are still on high. >> i want to ask you about the killing of that young man. police say it is a very different situation and the young man shot first and another gun recovered from the scene. is it gets wrapped up in the same way as the michael brown shooting? what are people asking for around it? how is that kpachanging the protests? >> it is changing the protest because it reignited the passions. michael brown was clearly unarmed and in st. louis a gun was recovered and this young man fired on police. but people say this man was fired on s

msnbc' tremain lee is in st. louis for us. the organizers are calling this entire weekend the weekend of resistance. talk about the scene there right now. >> reporter: right now just a few blocks away, hundreds of people are lining up and marching towards the old courthouse. it's a much more diverse crowd than we've seen before. members of the sierra club, various unions, clergy groups have organized folks around the country as well as college students. so it's a swelling crowd, bigger than we've seen but more diverse than we've ever seen. this is a change in tone from some of the anger and outrage. now it's galvanizing and organizing. folks are ready to make their voices heard. >> it's extraordinary. you talk about the diversity. the police have released reports that say diverse in terms of age from teenagers up through people in their 80s, everyone of all ethnicity backgrounds, even people from overseas, right? this is a live look at that area that tremain was talking about. but overseas people as well? >> reporter: certainl
