trent, take us through this process. we know that in the anna nicole case, and this case is compared to that already, it took about a year, perhaps a little longer, before we saw charges. if this becomes a homicide investigation, do you expect this will be a lengthy one? >> i don't think that this case will be any different than anna nicole smith. in fact, i think it will be multiplied beyond. that look, there are a lot of records in this case apparently that authorities would have to go through. michael jackson took a lot of prescription medications apparently. he apparently had a lot -- a large number of doctors, a lot of people who are willing to assist him. so you have to go through the data bases associated with who prescribed the medication, when did they prescribe the medication? were they aware of michael jackson's medical history at the time of prescribing that medication? they'll talk to some of these people assuming any of these people are willing to talk to them and assuming those people have not. those lawye

republican congressman trent franks of arizona is a member of the house armed services committee andoenix. well, congressman, iran is a problem. and we all know that at some point, we have to turn up the pressure or somehow deal with iran, do you believe the president missed an opportunity here? >> well, brian, i believe that the president has missed a series of students with iran. and he doesn't seem to really understand just how serious the circumstances related to iran becoming a nuclear nation really is. i would just say this, the day that iran becomes a nuclear armed nation, every day thereafter, humanities is going to have to wake up and ask the question, who has nuclear weapons today. because they will become a proliferator unlike anything you've ever seen. just last year, iran was placed as the high eest proliferator of terrorism and nuclear weapons technology of anyone and i just have to say to you i was terribly concerned about the direction that this is all going and i think that this, you know, i'm hoping that we can attribute the president's attitude to that of just sinc

i trent folks in chicago not to say there's not unanimity in that district but the overwhelming majorityf folks i represent are very, very leary of a public plan. i recently held "congress on your corner" where i just go in and have a conversation with folks at a grocery store this took place. and their response depens public plan was overwhelming. i mean, overwhelming. when i had 150 physicians in for the meeting we talked about a couple of minutes ago, the overwhelming majority 97%-98% of the physicians were digging their heels in saying don't do this to us. it's going to change medicine in the united states. look, here's the weakness of the public option. it's clearly a prelude to a single payor system so you've got combrers who, if given the option, will pay the 8% tax and shed themselves of all of the burden to really get out of the responsibilities. so from a cost at the same time point of view, which is why the lirne group says it's going to be a single-payor system. if it's a single-payor system, then what we end up in is a canadian and uk model, they will not acknowledge benefic

stephen it was the president of george washington medical center, trent cable is the ceo of the hospitaltor and all you people here so it is a nice opportunity and i'm glad i'm here also. [laughter] chris asked me to make a few comments before we started and i thought when i would do is talk a little about the establishment of the trauma system that occurred about 30 or 40 years ago which i was involved with locally and i think it is important to do that because it gives us, it is pertinent to what we will talk about later on. back in the '50s and '60s the handling was abysmal. there was no ems system and no 911. the ambulances for nothing more than converted cadillacs there is some of your old enough to remember you push a patient in and run to the nearest center, nearest hospital and at the hospital they could find just about anybody. a small hospital where i was a medical student there was a rule that every member of the staff had to serve one day a month or two in the er so is a psychiatrist, a pediatrician and neurologist had to be there and obviously didn't have a lot of experience

the difference in this when i was on the court of appeal, suppose i have a close question on trent 12 i could i'd either accuse myself or not. i might as well recuse myself quite frankly paraguay go into in depth? they can always get some other judge. one judge really is as good as another. so it doesn't matter. there are loads of judges they can begin to decide this case. in the present court, it makes a difference. it could well. if there are nine of us there is no way to get some again, i refuse myself it's going to be 4-4 and that means when there's a close question, really think about it and then if i think the duty to set is greater than the reasons for retools all i will set. because you are not free just to decide everything to recuse that's what makes it more standards. but quite often when i'm having a tough time, there's nothing to repent me, which there is nothing to prevent me from talking to my colleagues about it, which i sometimes do, and all of us do that. and so i think it works out the same in the court with the exception that i mentioned here and you might find it,
