big storm in two days a cyclon veronica crosses the northwest coast at port hedland a day earlier trevor hit a remote part of the north coast from is rated as a category three two levels below the highest category five it's moving slowly and bringing us storm surge. speak now to rob ryan who's in hedland so rob looks like it's still pretty rough weather there tell us what the situation is like. sammy the psychotronic are really hitting now with full force it's making landfall within the next couple of hours or so about one hundred kilometers down the coast behind me wind speeds close to its center this is now downgraded to a category four from a category five that cycle but still wind speeds well in excess of two hundred kilometers per hour we're getting wind speeds port hedland over one hundred kilometers possibly peaking at one hundred fifty before it subsides and bring it with that of course that awful lot of rain as well the big concern for people here is this is being ravaging this part of the coastline for the best part of eighteen hours they've had what's called the red alert here
