quarter mile visibility in the tri-valley. for the next few hours. you may want to allow extra time to get to work. after that it clears up and will be a nice day. you may take down the halloween decorations. it's 69 in san mateo and san francisco in the mid to upper 60s. north bay highs reaching 70 in ukiah, and 69 today in napa. we're breaking from the rain for now but here's that storm system and it's moving closer. the timeline of that brings it into parts of the north bay during the overnight hours. i like these quick-moving showers moving in. most of us won't even see the rain because it will be falling while you are sleeping and by the time you wake up, here we are at 6:30 in the morning and the heaviest rain moved out, and we could be left with spotty light showers in the north bay and then clearing out by tomorrow afternoon. rainfall totals look to be a quarter inch of rain or more for parts of the north bay but much less further to the south. the outlook for the rest of the month shows pretty good rainfall totals esp

we do have some patchy valley fog across the tri valley on up into solano county, especially where we do have a dense fog advisory in effect out into the central valley of some dense to leave. fog has formed out that direction. rainfall is to our north. and that's where it's going to stay. some showers really just clipping areas like mendocino and humboldt counties, not drifting into the bay area, though. so this is why we've got a dry weekend ahead of us, although a cloudy weekend. we are tapping into cloud cover from this system. but just just not working its way far enough. south to be reaching us with that rainfall. great news for our northern neighbors and also ok news for us in the bay area because even though we stay dry this weekend. we have our own round of rainfall just around the corner. let's get a look at all that. so there's this weekend's rainfall really just a coast kind of thing. maybe a couple sprinkles tomorrow morning for areas like sonoma county, dry sunday. you get that extra hour's sleep on sunday. the look forward to then comes monday and although dry initially

temperatures should reach up to about 70 degrees in the tri- valley.he bay wu temperatures in the upper 60s both for san francisco and oakland in the east bay. some of the warmest temperatures on the map farther north in sonoma county. temperatures will stay steady for san francisco. upper 60s all the way through the weekend. oakland up to maybe 70 depress over the weekend. low-to-mid 70s this weekend for san jose. and then monday and tuesday a cold front will sweep through. this won't have any moisture to work with, though, so we'll see passing clouds monday and tuesday, and cooler tense as we head to the middle of next week. the break from the rain, obviously we'll be rooting for more rain, because we need it. we'll have more data to look at between,000 and 11:00, so i'll have an update then. >> a set of alameda county b.a.r.t. tracks mark the end of the line for these bay area salmon. how the recent rain is highlighting a project to help them. >> and streaming tonight on cbsn bay area, a town hall on covid vaccines for kids. that's at 8:00, and at 9

a light offshore breeze or wind coming in out of the east and around the tri-valley. and out of the northeast into walnut creek in concord and you can see the fog there. this is he imported fog from the central valley from stockton and tracie drifting west. notice how the visibility starts to drop off here in the last 30 minutes. two and a half miles in concord so the main impacted areas, again, will be solano county, contra costa county, and napa county will continue to see this fog kind of spilling into the west. so that is the way tomorrow morning begins. patchy areas of dense fog. cooling changes during the afternoon. we are going to begin to see more clouds. so, no more of those mid-70s that we saw this weekend. and then, finally, some rain chances coming by thursday, though, that storm may be taking a bit more of a north trek. so that's starting to bring down some rain totals for areas san francisco southward. we have a closer look at those rain expectations and breezy conditions setting up by next weekend in our forecast coming up in about ten minutes. back to

tri-valley, east bay. concord is doing better than yesterday. as far as the dense fog advisory is concerned, it's the northbay valleys. it's also the east bay valleys throughout the delta and just within this last 40 minutes, the national weather service extended this fog advisory to include the east bay shoreline and the peninsula. looks okay there now but the way we are seeing fog move, if you are about to hit the road, you should plan on the potential of hitting fog and maybe some unexpected places. current temperatures range in the upper 40s to the mid-50s. big picture view shows us we should not expect any significant rain over the next few days anyway. you can see with the storm track is. it is going into the pacific northwest. this for system right therefore monday night into tuesday, tries to drag some light rain across the bay area in the overnight hours. that doesn't even warrant much of a mention when we get to the seven day forecast. i don't have rain there but tuesday in the predawn hours we might get a shower. that gets us into frid

the tri valley into the delta in parts of the napa valley likely.e of that dense fog there. the winds begin to calm down. and as the winds calm down that kind of e% set the stage for some of that fog really to form outside fact models are picking up on it overnight tonight. we'll see some of that fog and some of the valley's reducing visibilities down to maybe 0 in some spots. so early on tomorrow morning for the commute. be prepared for some slow traffic is going to see some of that dense fog, especially inland. but by about the middle the morning meal of the day. that is long gone. we guard get rid of the fog but still some clouds left behind high pressure, though, is going to start to build in over the next couple days. that is going to be a dry weather pattern. the jet stream moving well to the north that means we're going to see dry conditions not only for tomorrow but through the weekend and probably well through next week. maybe the next couple of weeks as high pressure really kind of hold on. so tomorrow temperatures are going to warm up a l

some low 70s on the east bay shoreline which will show up for the tri-valley today, pleasant hill i-69, 67 in concord. low 70s for the east bay shoreline, upper 60s up into marine and plenty of low 70s for simona sonoma and napa. and we will be in the low to mid 70s as we get into mendocino county so slightly warmer today in some locations. we can do cool down a little over the next three days. san jose goes down to the upper 60s by the time we get to next weekend but it will stay in the low 70s this whole week. similar story for the note bay valleys in the mid-70s through the next seven days. for the inlet valleys of the east bay we stay 70s for the next few days before cooling down. still even at that only down into the upper 60s. no rain on here now and that is seven days worth and looking beyond for accumulated rain, no hope for accumulated rain for the next week and a half at least. it's going to be another stretch of weather where we get to enjoy sunny and 70. >> what would have to change for some of that to shift our way and how likely is it? >> a large block in the atmosphere i

here's look at the tri-valley as you head out on 5850. we've seen patches of fog, but bob redell is out there. first of all, stores are opening -- they were closed last year, but opening much later this year. >> reporter: correct. and, yes, they were closed yesterday. look at stoneridge mall behind me. this is not unusual for black friday because typically on a black friday, they don't open until 6:00 can anyway. that's what they're going to be doing anyway in about an hour. they were not opened yesterday. they reopened at 6:00 this morning. this year like last year is different because of the pandemic. target stores will not reopen until 7:00 this morning for black friday and has announced they will be making -- being closed on thanksgiving permanent. walmart which has stayed open on thanksgiving since the 1980s also closed. same goes for electronics retailer best buy. across the bay area, most malls like stone ridge are closed with the exception of movie theaters. this is a move made last year in the height of the pandemic in an effort

can see the fog and how thick it was and pouring over the east bay hills, and it was foggy in the tri-valleye north bay valleys again this morning and we had a dense fog advisory for a good part of the morning and will probably do that again tomorrow and i will show you why. if you switch to the high resolution satellite this is just before sunset today so we did have the daylight to be able to see where the fog was and that is the fog that fills in the entire central valley in the winter and you can see some of the high serous clouds obscuring the view as they passed by quickly but that doesn't move and it is supposed to melt away and evaporate and disappear in the warmth of the sun but it did not today. this means as the sun went down it was still there. that means it has a big head start on tomorrow. so it will start creeping back over toward the east bay valleys and certainly into the delta and up into the north bay valleys once again tomorrow and if we look at the right now readings and visibility, they are already starting to go down and right now the visibility reading for concord is
