let's bring in trish regan, our financial analyst for more here.at huge financial crash. and i think a lot of people back home are looking at the markets. some decent news thinking this is too scary to think about. >> yeah, absolutely right. they have the whole weekend to contemplate just exactly what the downgrade meant. so this isn't just wall street. this is all kinds of investors. this is not even just investors. this is your average american out there saying what exactly does this mean. are we going to see a repeat of 2008? am i going to have a job next month. so they're pulling back. they're saying to themselves, i better hunker down. when you see the market tank more than 600 points after having just fallen more than 500 in one session the week before, that makes people scared. >> and even if you have money to invest, there don't seem to be a lot of good options. the market is up and down all the time. savings accounts, you get basically nothing right now. >> and you probably won't get much for the near future, given that the fed is keeping

joining me now is trish and her attorney, todd. it's a really complicated story. your former husband used to be married. they had two girls. his former wife shot those two girls while they were sleeping in bed. she was proven to be insane. went to a mental institution and is now out. in the meantime, you married that man and had two children of your own and now he's back with the first wife and she's with your children? >> that's correct. >> gretchen: so you have gone to court to try and change the custody of this and what happened? >> we filed a case -- we got an emergency restraining order mid june and we had a cause -- adequate cause hearing on july 25. and on july 25, the court found that there was no reason for us to continue the case and seek a change in the parenting plan. >> gretchen: i know on the face for any parent, you look at this and say, how can any woman, i don't care if she was sean or not, how -- sane or not, how could she be in the home with your client's two children? >> absolutely and we believe that the court

as i understand trish has a good deal input on what actually, what actually is done with the 1.2 trillion so how -- >> so it could change for a variety of reasons. one possibly is the kerry will agree on some proposal that would than be enacted by the congress. sequestration will take effect at all, or they will bring a proposal that a compass part of the $1.2 trillion but not all. and the sequestration would then be reduced in size. so there's a lot of possibilities like that. it's also, then there's also the further question of exactly how would the sequestration play out. that will not be up to us to decide. that is up to only be to work out if it comes to that. we have been asked we estimate the effects of sequestration would be a different parts of the budget and we're working on that analysis. but that's a budgetary analysis. affecting the economy, we could think further about. but i think, compared to all the other uncertainties in this forecast, the uncertainty about the composition of the sequestration is not particularly large. much greater uncertainty i think about the possible

trish , kind enough to come in. -- you have warnings for folks on how they can at least get a head startfor the things we are talking about. what should we do right now? >> right now you need to pay a lot of attention. for individuals it is going to be about cash. allow me to make one statement this is serious. it is important. and there's no silver lining. so you really have to pay attention to what you are doing. how people get through this it is all about cash. whether it is your cash reserves, cash you have in your wallet. how much cash you have in your 401(k). it is all about cash. paying attention, cash is king. >> jamie: think a little bit of cash. >> a lot of cash. >> jamie: if you have credit cards and i know you think we should pay them off and rip them up. >> absolutely. >> jamie: if you have them and see the interest rates going up, should you pay now? >> don't wait. credit is going to get dear and debt is going to be a more costly problem. start dealing with it now, if you haven't already if you can't do-it-yourself, get help. there's the national foundation of credit counse
