now we'll talk about the trop s tropics. we have tropical storm joaquin.id upgrade from the depression we were tracking today. still on the track up towards our area as we go into the weekend. the next couple days will meander around. saturday it's looking closer to our area, possibly still as a tropical storm. future weather here as we go through the week. we'll be stuck in rainy, windy pattern with clouds linger. there you see by saturday the tropical storm still down to our south but getting closer with a strong on shore wind. we could have local flooding inland with heavy rain. as we go through the rest of this week because it's only monday we'll be watching this very closely with any updates. the computer models have been pretty consistent about brings this thing up north. no major shift to the east or west. of course we have several days to keep tracking the updates on joaquin. 67 for the low in philadelphia. tomorrow warm and humid, shower, heavy at night. temperatures around the mid to low 80s as we go through the day. another warm, humid day. it w

then we watch the tropics after that. tropical depression is down by the bahamas.ar away at this point, it's close to becoming a tropical storm. we'll be watching that very closely into the end of the week. here's pretty much the setup as this gets closer towards the weekend. big area of high pressure to the north in canada blocking this thing and keeping it to the south, but as the models are putting it near the bahamas, develops into a tropical storm soon, its name would be joaquin. we'll be watching that, as well, into tomorrow. some of the models continue to bring it up to the north just to the south of our area and this would cause it to give us quite a bit of rainfall. strong onshore winds, potential for coastal and localized flooding, but, of course, the question is going to be where along the midatlantic states, up towards the northeast, will it actually hit land? but the computer models are consistent at bringing it up to the north and moving a little bit faster as we get closer to our area, but either way the main area that we're going to be watching is f

now let's talk about tropical storm joaquin. it is stale tropical storm.t's now a very strong tropical storm with sustained winds at 70 gusts to 85 and notice that slow mommy crawling toward the bahamas it will hit very warm owing water and that will help it strengthen now the national hurricane center just released this track expecting to become a hurricane by tomorrow morning. category one and then watch this brief strengthening into a category two hurricane. it may die down to cat one notice the track nudged a little further to the west and start to notice this little curve that it started that pick up in the very last frame in the cone of uncertainty again surrounding that want to show you why they've adjusted that track further to the west we've been seeing a trend in our ensemble models the spaghetti plots they look like spaghetti. a lot less delicious. you can see on sunday notice the general trend is to curve this storm a little bit back to the west. the reason for that that sharp trough over the eastern united states and a blocking high off to the

there's another one, this is tropical depression number 11 and if it becomes a tropical storm, it will be tropical storm joaquin and those two systems will be moving in towards a cold front that will be moving in from the west. so this means that tuesday night into wednesday morning we're going to get a soaking rain. it looks like the heaviest rain through the overone. when you get that trop moisture over a cold front it would be across central pennsylvania and they could get more than 4-inches of rain. we're looking at a healthy one to 2 inches of rain again tuesday night into wednesday morning. it's been about two weeks since we've got a good soaking rain so we really do need it and then that other system could bring us some rain for the weekend so this is what's ahead this week. were big changes, a big spike in humidity. today muggy, tomorrow very humid. two potential rounds of rain and with that rain will come a big cooldown so find the umbrellas and find the fall sweaters. i'll talk more about that coming up in the full accuweather forecast. back to you rick. >> all right cecily t

tropical storm joaquin which is very close took a cat one hurricane. lets look at storm scan three. as we mentioned these heavier showers have started to track to the north and east, so moving away from frustrates, bu, you can see there is moisture still here in the north east. it is not to say we are done completely. rain we had in the overnight hours in kenneth square, two and a half inches, just under two in hockessin. wildwood, and just under that in philadelphia a. you can bet that makes for a lot of soggy roads. current temperatures 76 in philadelphia. about 70 in lancaster. as we head down the shore about 74 degrees. there in atlantic city. the just to show what you is happening here. we will get more showers as we see this front track through on thursday, cooler air coming behind it. so highs in the 60's, on thursday, and friday, and little more rain likely from this system before we get in the weaken. we will see partial clearing on saturday but then we have got trouble in the way of the tropical system off to the south right now. this is one

here's tropical storm joaquin. this did get a name late last night.ks like not an enormous storm, probably staying a tropical storm and not a hurricane. it looks like it wants to push up into our direction. by saturday night into sunday morning, really friday night into saturday and through saturday the rain sweeping over the top of that tropical storm does have a chance to get us rather wet. the spaghetti plot model shows most of these models want this just off the coast, a couple of them have them coming in closer to philadelphia. this is not a hurricane sandy situation, not that strong of a storm but it's one that's going the make it a little windy and certainly wet around here. we could get another round of pretty decent rain as we head towards the end of the week. 82 humid with showers and then wednesday morning some morning rain. the heaviest rain overnight into wednesday and we've got 82 for a high today and 76 for a high tomorrow. then thursday cooler and windy, 62 with a shower. 60 on friday, cool and probably getting rainy during the day and

this is the track for tropical storm ato. the system will likely move up to the north.t could intensify to a severe tropical storm because of sea surface temperatures being warm enough to support the system and the center will likely reach the key peninsula by wednesday noon local time. and then move up by thursday afternoon local time. strong wind gusts of 120 kilometers per hour likely at's strong enough to cause structural damage and heavy rain is expected. the worst rain will likely happen in the kanto region especially facing the south. you could see up to 450 millimeters of rainfall and 320. even tornadoes could happen because of this storm. and heavy rain and strong winds will likely continue for awhile because the system will continue to drag ample moisture from the south. flooding, landslides will be a risk for many parts of japan. take a look at this forecast. weather will likely stay quite bad for the next several days. tokyo will see rainy weather at least into friday. same for nagoya, osaka, as well as hiroshima. there's another system to the east of japan.
