this is tropical storm john. this is tropical storm kristi. moving to the south of the hawaiian islands. tropical storm john is a hurricane that could send in some clouds to the bay area sometime tomorrow. there was a slight chance of an isolated thunderstorm for us this tropical air moving in. it looks like maybe just a few extra high clouds and muggy and humid conditions to the south. on satellite right now we have the fog up and down the coastline. still some low clouds blanketing portions of the bay. san jose currently 60. fairfield 56. santa rosa 49. san francisco reporting 52 degrees.t days of the week. that will mean upper 90s right around 100 and lend . the coast is very chilly. upper 50s to right around 60 degrees. heading toward the weekend we will cool off a little bit heading towards saturday and sunday. low clouds and fog will be a factor coast side. upper 90s to right around 101 toward the clear lake. once again we have that spare they are alert for today. second day in a row. a haze and smoke occasionally drifting overhead. espe

now tropical storm lane. told in a few short hours may be tropical depression lane as it gets broken up. really the one area that has protected the rest of the chamber taken the brunt of the storm is the east side of the main island. the big island of hawaii. which is basically separated down themiddle by the volcanoes. the east side was taken without protection and they really have in some places, 40 47 inches of rain. in hilo 35 inches of rain. that's one of the top five rain producing storms in u.s. history. hurricane harvey is still number one when it came to rain totals per the number can still go. obviously flood and mudslide problems in the hilo area on the east side of the big island. here on maui we are getting random rainstorms and also fires here believe it or not. everyone was waiting for the rain to come ashore there were three fires. they have been contained. we can still smell the smoke this morning. despite all the issues going on in the fact that the storm is breaking up significantly, those

tropical storm advisories for maui and the big island. so we're looking at things that are continuing to improve, but in terms of the rainfall, not so much because we are looking at some very heavy rain. we've seen over 42 inches of rain in hilo and three-day records here and that will allow for some mud slides and certainly with the higher elevations there. 65 mile an hour winds right now and as this takes a left-hand turn we'll continue to see this weaken 40 miles an concerned about. it's the rainfall that continues to stack up and some of the different rainfall estimates are bringing in three to five inches of additional rain for oahu. maui, 8 to 12 inches of additional rainfall and a slight chance of tornadoes are possible. so as this continues to wind down in terms of wind. it is certainly not winding down in terms of rainfall and we have the higher elevations around maui and haleakala and around diamond head in oahu where we can see runoff and flooding problems with the rain lingering right on through the weekend. chris? >> as lisa

again, tropical storm lane now the sixth wettest tropical system in history.p in mind the number one was harvey, which oddly enough, actually made landfall in texas one year ago today. it is not likely we will get to that number, but with all of the additional rain expected, it is very likely we will crack the top five. again, numerous sites on the big island reporting over 40 inches, but even maui now starting to see their numbers tick up. multiple sites reporting, say, around a foot of rain already. now you have to factor in how much additional rain is going to come in. look at the big island and even maui. an additional 6 to 10 inches of rain is expected on top of what they've already had. and even some of the other islands, another 2 to 4 inches. so again, victor, christi, the thing going forward is going to be this system as a whole is weakening, but at this point, we actually want it to pick up speed and move away from the islands. the faster it can do that, the less rain it can drop. the unfortunate part is that just doesn't look like what it's going to

it's a tropical storm with winds of 65 mills an hour. they're all tropical storm warnings and flooding concerns in hilo where they've had 43 inches of rain and three days of record rainfall and still looking at honolulu getting anywhere from three to five additional inches of rain also on maui and hilo is the place where we're looking at perhaps the worst weather and still the possibility of some tornadoes exist. if you look at the big island where all of the colors are, that's where we're getting the heaviest rain. maui is next and then oahu and the threat remains for very heavy rain and the possibility of mudslides and flash flooding. 59 in oakland and 61 in hayward and 57 in napa and as we look out toward san rafael and nothing, but clouds there and we will see them clear and this morning with the cloudy skies, it's cool, by the afternoon, warmer inland where we're below average into next week and part of the reason why is the low cloud and fog deck that will stay with us anywhere from 1,000 feet deep to sometimes less, but as we go t
