we can cross to newcastle and speak to our north of england correspondent fiona trott.that he was coming home from work and was going through the shopping centre, a busy shopping centre in the centre of newcastle city centre. he raised his arm at a doorway to let the teenager go past. the teenager took exception to this, there was a struggle. the lawyer managed to push him off but then the 17—year—old stabbed him in the chest with a screwdriver. we also heard previously that he had actually stolen screwdrivers from a shop in the teenager was actually looking for somebody that he'd had an argument with about cigarettes. the court hearing was today, the first crown court hearing. the 17—year—old pleaded guilty to murder. it was a hearing that lasted less than ten minutes. he also admitted stealing screwdrivers from a poundland store in newcastle and possessing an offensive weapon. when this happened, because it was in the shopping mall, there were cctv cameras everywhere so police were able to track the teenager. that is how they followed him and he was arrested. peter du
