i sat with troy davis on death row, working that case for 15 years.llary clinton continue to lag behind. this year she was only the democratic candidate on stage for the death penalty. she was the only one who refused to support the retroactive application of any change in despairty. seeing real vision and integrity on issues of sentencing is critical. bernie has that. >> let me ask you this. one of the things, michelle alexander wrote this piece. she wrote the new jim crow. i read that and i thought, that's a little unfair. the clintons are not a unified entity. that was her husband. her husband served. her husband signed the crime bill, which bernie sanders voted for. why is it fair to hold that? >> i'm not focused on that. you can go back in the '90s and see bad decision made by members. >> naacp. >> i wasn't leader then. >> in the 2000s and right up to today on issues of sentencing, hillary has continued to lag behind. that's the concern. back in 2008, the republicans aren't for retro activity and she wasn't. she really isn't more of a moderate. w

and she's the only one on stage this year who supports the death penalty, after troy davis, after six democratic governors abolish it in their state. and what it says to you is that sort of her edge, if you will, how far she's willing to go is defined by the republican party. when it comes to criminal justice issues, who may seem to some people to be somewhat fringe, but the reality is we have the most incakarcarcerated black, brown, and white people on the planet. it's bankrupting our colleges. so bernie sanders says, this is a guy who will fight for my kids like he's their own. this is a guy who says, our kids are terrified of the debt we're going into, let's make public college tuitions free. we spend millions and millions on prisons to warehouse drug addicts should be in rehab. we can take that money and shift it to the public universities. that's where it was taken from. this is a guy who says, we have old people who frankly social security is betraying. let's raise it so that they aren't starving. this is just basically, you know, saying, we should take care of our own in this c
