it's 25 degrees around the rim of the greater lake tahoe area. 20s around truckee. at this hour. we don't have any snow in the forecast for this entire week with partly sunny skies, but notice the temperature dips significantly on tuesday night, and that will set the stage for cooler conditions on your wednesday and also some windy conditions. ski lifts could be placed on a hold, so make sure you always keep track of your conditions. look at this condition right here, right now. this is the golden gate bridge. now that's the span about 220ft above the water. so it gives you a good idea just how low that fog bank is at this hour. we'll wake up to some areas of patchy fog tomorrow morning, then turning partly sunny. temperatures 58 to right around 6364 degrees. and here you go. we have the area of low pressure providing some precipitation into the pacific northwest. this low is going to settle in over the colorado rockies. then we've got that area of high pressure between the two. it's a pressure gradient. plus we have the counterclockwise winds around that low. so it produces an o

freezing south whitehall. 32, 33 to incline and 30 in truckee. what they need is another round of storms to get things going again. and eventually we're going to watch one of these punch through. you see that big swirl off the coastline. that's gonna be part of the system. the start of a move that ridge out of the way and opens up the door to a series of storms. now the first storms that come through are going to have a subtropical tap a little bit of atmospheric river that good old pineapple express. we're going to sway back into the state that will bring with it some much higher level snow to begin with. the fact snow levels probably start at around 7300 feet or so. this where we see, remember, we started out the year. we are well above the average, especially in northern california for snowfall. now that fall starting to fall behind at 95% of average. only 61% of average. now the central sierra and the southern sierra nevada. it. yeah, that is well below normal. now at only 47%. so we really need to get things going. looks like that is going t

let's show you what that drive was like along i-80 westbound coming through truckee earlier today. the chp had to shut down 80 westbound and eastbound at baxter just before 3:00 this afternoon because of these conditions. authorities say they responded to several traffic collisions and spinouts over donner summit throughout the day. >> a tornado was spotted in northern california today, making it the country's first confirmed tornado of 2025. the national weather service warned residents of shasta and tehama counties to seek shelter after the tornado was reported around 5:20 p.m, about 11 miles southwest of shingletown. the warning was in effect until 6 p.m. no reports of any damage tonight. we'll bring in our meteorologist, mark tamayo, now. mark the first tornado of the year. yeah. >> in california. who would have guessed? >> yeah, definitely. yeah. and it was erupted quickly during the 5:00 hour without warning in place. so the tornado warning from around 515 ish to around 6:00. and the national weather service will be heading to that area tomorrow to get more information. but t
