[laughter] you all know what i'm talking about. in any event, the question was whether the bill of rights or specifically, the second amendment applies to states. many states with strict gun laws because always argued before these cases that the second , amendment doesn't apply here. that's what the district argued even though the district is not , a state. so the only other handgun bans that were in the states at that time are what i call chicagoland, cook county chicago, morton grove, all those little jurisdictions around the chicago area, that it was a fad to ban handguns in the 1980's, so the past these laws. , that theafter heller handgun ban violated the second amendment, lawsuits were filed against those jurisdictions to invalidate those laws. those cases all worked their way up to the supreme court, and mcdonald versus chicago, the pro-second amendment side prevailed.
