i checked the tsa checkpoint travel numbers on the thursday and friday leading up to easter. we saw more than 1.5 million people go through tsa check lines. >> compare that to the same days leading up to easter 2020 and it was only about 100,000 each day bump. she priya believes it's time for more normalcy as we need to live in the building now it's be done to that of but she says it's still important to take precautions because i needed the station's every bit everyone is weighing mice and everyone is taking care of them said lisa greenwald swire says she was nervous to travel on a holiday weekend. but her family didn't have another option. but we're limited by the school we at least have to shop in so we feel a little safer that we are on the top of the vaccination. >> i did check the cdc web site and they're still discouraging nonessential travel for people who are not vaccinated yeah, so if people are not vaccinated, what should they be doing before they got on a plane. they should getting tested for covid-19 before they get on the plane and also after if they can't get t

yesterday, good friday, more than one and a half million people heading through tsa checkpoints.t is the largest number since march 12th, which was before the shutdowns began, so they're telling people, get to the airport early. remember, the lines are back, but they're also socially distanced lines. now, here are the new guidelines from the cdc. first of all, for people who are fully vaccinated, and that means two weeks after you've gotten your second dose of pfizer or moderna or your one johnson & johnson dose, and with the caveat that you need to check with your destination, as far as the cdc is concerned, no test needed anymore for domestic travel. they still want you to get tested three to five days after international travel as they monitor these variants. no quarantine needed, again, subject to local rules, but continue to wear your mask, wash your hands, and social distance. now, for everyone else, and a lot of these people are still traveling, the cdc still says you should not travel if it's not essential. you do need to get tested both before, roughly, at least 72 hours

instead of handing a photo id and boarding pass to a tsa agent passengers will now scan the documentsu pass through, masks are required while traveling, but must be lowered to confirm identity. you can see here. now, the lines might also seem longer but the tsa says agents are just spacing people out to maintain social distancing. i'll take their word for it and by the way, the tsa looking to hire about 6,000 agents nationwide, and another sign that the economy is reopening, especially for travel. meantime, out west in nevada governor steve cicilack says he expects every county in the state to be able to fully reopen at 100% capacity, by jun. the reopening could be a little uneven, as each county will have the authority to make their own decision from may 1 onward, so some may reopen earlier while others won't. now, the casinos, of course that's what everyone love, continue to operate at 50% capacity, and continue to be governed by the state gaming control board, but also, they too, hope to be fully open by june 1. and even further west, out in california, everyone, 16 years administr

starting in mid-march, the real-time data, things like opentable for restaurants in the tsa data hasicked up substantially. while the official government data has looked pretty good, last week's jobs report, that was taken in the first half of march, and what has happened since then is there has been an acceleration across the board and sectors of the economy like leisure and entertainment that have been shut down by covid and even just in the number of jobs. romaine: what are we seeing in terms of geographical differences? steve: it is interesting because when you look at it geographically, there are some areas that are still suffering, looking at hotels, for example. in florida, miami and tampa are the two markets at the highest level of occupancy of anywhere in the country, which makes sense because people are going to vacation. you get your vaccine, you wait two weeks, then you say, i'm hitting the road, i'm going to take a vacation, and florida is doing well in terms of hotels and so are some of the other coastal markets. that is also true in the restaurant reservations as well.

people were screened at tsa check points across the country.since march 12th of last year, so just before the shutdowns began. one thing that means is you need to get back to getting to the airport early if you're traveling because there are lines again and they are socially distanced lines. so people were not necessarily waiting for this, but the cdc did as you mentioned come out with some new guidelines. first of all for fully vaccinated travelers this is if you are two weeks after your second pfizer or moderna dose or your single johnson & johnson dose, you no longer need to take a test before domestic travel or when you come back. although that depends also on local guidelines. you need to check into that. you should, though, get tested 3 to 5 days after international travel as they continue to monitor for variants of the disease. no quarantine needed anymore, again subject to local regulations. and they still want you to wear a mask, wash your hands and social distance. now, for everyone else they still are saying that nonessential travel
