perhaps the most widely known is tsa precheck. today approximately 600,000 passengers have experienced expedited screening through tsa precheck. by the end of 2012, we expect to offer passengers in 35 of our nation's busiest airports the benefits of tsa precheck. in addition, eligible frequent fliers and trusted traveler programs we expanded to include active duty u.s. military traveling out of reagan national airport. fwan national airport. last fall we implemented new screening procedures. and just last monday. passengers of 75 and older. finally we are also supporting efforts to start identity based screening. pilots have cleared security. these niche vifs have allowed us to expedite the screening process for children, our military, many frequent fliers and now in testing the elderly. by enhancing the effectiveness, we will continue to work towards our goal of providing the most effective security in the most efficient way. >> the gentleman is recognized. >> good afternoon and distinguished members of the committee. the strengt

by the end of this month, we'll expand the tsa precheck population to include active duty u.s.card traveling out o ronald reagan national parent. service members will undergo the standard tsa secure flight prescreen and if we're able to verify the service member is in good standing they will likely receive tsa precheck screening benefits. such as no longer removing their shoes or lying jacket and allowing them to keep their laptop in their brief case and their compliant liquids in their carryon bags. we believe u.s. service members -- we recognize these members pose little risk to aviation security. as well review and evaluate the effectiveness of these possible enhancements it is possible that additional changes may be implemented in the future as we continue to work to provide all travelers with the most effective security provided in most efficient way. of course we'll always retain the ability to incorporate random and unpredictable security measures throughout the airport and no individual is ever guaranteed expedite it screening. we appreciate the ongoing support of the a
