gary tuchman has a great report from newtown coming up next.ince the gunman killed 20 of since the gunman killed 20 of since the gunman killed 20 of snoof students of sandy hook elementary school went back to school today for the first time since the shooting that killed 20 of their classmates and six adults in the newtown, connecticut, school. students were relocated to a different one, a building altogether in a different town in monroe, keblth cut. that's because sandy hook is still part of an active investigation and they don't know if the kids will return to that building. there is certainly increased security at the new school, an upgraded system of cameras and locks and parent were there to help the teachers as well. of course, a very emotional day for all. the school superintendent said that they would try to make it as much of a normal rue tin as possible, doing the kinds of things that they know are good for kids and that they would be familiar with. gary tuchman had a chance to talk to a couple of people at newtown. one set of the pa

joining me now on the phone is our gary tuchman.ary, overnight, you spoke with espn's jeremy schap, who did this interview. what was manti te'o's reason for never actually meeting this girl, who he thought was his girlfriend? >> first of all, i'll tell you that jeremy schap is a good reporter, a good guy, and graciously let me ask him a couple questions. when he was done whiz interview, and things i was most curious about, one question you just mentioned, why did te'o never want to see this girl? certainly something i was dying to know. love but never saw her over a appeared of years. and jeremy schap said the answer was, te'o very much wanted to see her, made arrangements to see her, but each time he made arrangements, something would fall through, the girl couldn't do it, and the meeting would never happen. you would think maybe you would fall out of love with somebody that would keep blowing you off when he made these arrangements. but he stayed in love with her. and also, tuiasosopo, what was his motivation for doing this? why o

our gary tuchman joins me now from connecticut. so gary, how are things going in the preparations for tomorrow? >> reporter: well, ashleigh, today the children, the teachers, the administrators who survived the massacre had an orientation at the new school, and tomorrow they will be going to the new school. and it's very interesting. it's a middle school that is called the chalk hill middle school but it was mothballed a couple years ago, so it's been empty. sought sign that says chalk hill on the bottom left-hand corner of the sign right now there's a sign that says sandy hook elementary. this school has been changed and retrofitted for the new students. the bathrooms have been made smaller. the desks from the old school have been brought to the new school. the same teachers will be there. so the idea is for the children to be as comfortable as possible. but it will be a very emotional day. you know, dawn hochsprung, she was the principal of the school who was killed, beloved by everybody. and just a short time ago i talked with h
