i was able to go from tucson to yuma. we went over some mountain ranges that were incredible in and of itself. there are human beings trying to cross the mountains under just incredibly harsh conditions whether it's winter or summer and i learned from talking to the members of our air and marine division and from others just how many rescues they conduct. frankly at tremendous peril to their own lives. when you see that terrain and what is involved in these kind of rescues, you gain a whole new appreciation for what a lot of our personnel are doing. look, by highlighting all this great work, i'm in no way ignoring or marginalizing incidents involving a small number of personnel that have caused some members of the public to have a diminished level of confidence in our agency. in fact, it's because of these very incidents as well as our commitment to continuous improvement that we're addressing various internal oversight processes, updating certain policies and looking further into some aspects of our training. i think you

martin, in your instances have you seen what i just described as the practices in tucson contribute to the homelessness of seniors? >> unfortunate i have, senator. the seniors in our community are some of the most vulnerable residents and they have the most difficulty. in fact, the example that i provided in my testimony of the woman that was evicted from her home, and she has a housing choice voucher and she was a senior, and her sister was a senior who had dementia, and they were evicted from the home even though they never miss add rent payment. i think, you know, we need to take note of the impact this is having on seniors and on disabled residents, which is, in my experience, very commonplace. >> i have heard from arp arizona and affordable housing advocates about a disturbing rise in senior homelessness in arizona, and it's something i previously discussed in the committee and talked about here in this committee. losing your home no matter who you are is a life altering event, and i believe losing your home as a senior on a fixed income is uniquely challenging in this housing mar
