joining us now for more insight is ashley bergquist, an attorney with tully and weiss. ashley, welcome. what are the legal issues the president elect's attorneys are arguing to the supreme court. >> thank you so much for having me this morning. so the team has only just filed, as in yesterday, january 7th, a request to the supreme court that has three legal issues. and the legal issues is whether or not he's entitled to an automatic stay of criminal proceedings while he has his interlocutory appeal filed. his appeal itself deals with issues of presidential immunity and the potential of having had improper evidence used in his trial that should have been excluded based on presidential immunity. so it's really the three questions, but currently it's the stay that he is asking to be enforced, meaning that he wants the state case to be paused and for nothing to move forward. despite the sentencing scheduled for friday. >> so this is a state case, as you mentioned, but the federal government or the federal courts don't have much to say unless it's this appeal issue. correct?
