this overnight fatal accident on the new jersey turnpike. here's a live look at one of our traffic cameras that happened to be located right at the crash scene. i should say right above the the crash scene. this is one of the many vehicles involved here. the cab of the tractor trailer. this happened last night on the southbound lanes of the new jersey turnpike, between exit eight and 8a. now all in that stretch there we have the the inner drive and the outer drive. so this happened in the outer drive of the southbound lanes of the new jersey turnpike. the right now the outer drive remains closed as they continue the clean up and the investigation. we will have more on the situation exactly what happened later on, but right now if you are getting ready to step outside the front door the the southbound inner drive is open a least they have the inner drive, three lanes, three out of the six are opened between exits 8a and exit number eight. northbound this morning no need to worry all of the northbound lanes are opened. it will be a tricky morn

breaking news and video just in of a deadly crash on what may have been a very slippery new jersey turnpike. this is eyewitness video from cranbury township. we've learned one person was killed. more than 40 injured in this crash. it involves more than 15 vehicles. this video from our traffic camera shows the aftermath of that accident. the southbound lanes remain closed tonight while the crash is being investigateed. >>> and we do know icy conditions played a role in this crash tonight in montgomery county. this happened on route 422 in lower pottsgrove a couple of hours ago. a car ended up going off the road and down an embankment into a ditch. this happened in the westbound lanes just past the sainted toga exit. >> police arrived on location and found one vehicle down an embankment which had actually been struck by another vehicle which was found further down the road. >> no one was injured in the crash. it was just one of a number of crashes all around the area tonight. meteorologist kathy orr is live outside our cbs3 studios in the spring garden section with a closer look at the icy co

from the grieving family of the burlington county man kill in the deadly crash on the new jersey turnpike. authority say that 40 vehicles were involved in multiple pile up nears 8a in cranberry township middlesex county last night. "eyewitness news" new jersey reporter cleve bryan spoke to the victim's stepson in bordentown. >> we're just trying to get through this. it is are sudden that it happened. >> reporter: aaron brown lost his stepfather darryl williams during a chain reaction crash on the new jersey turnpike involving 40 vehicles. state police say that conditions were icy and two tractor trailers lost control around mile marker number 71 trying to break for an accident. that caused several more pile ups resulting in 68 people hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. williams was the only fatality, trapped in his car and pronounced dead at the scene. >> darryl was my mom's best friend and they loved each other dearly. it is really heavy right the now. >> reporter: williams death comes days after one of his pros proud moment. he was a star athlete on the football, wrestling
