when i walked out of the subway i i looked at the twin towers. and right when i looked up there was a boom. it wasn't that loud. like it wasn't huge. however, it was unbelievable was the amount of fire. it was a big ball of fire. i looked around at people and we were all horrified. i'm stuttering because i'm in shock. i have never seen anything like it. it's horrible. and of course, this is real cause for concern. the world trade scepter is one of the busiest office buildings here in new york with hundreds perhaps thousands of workers who a. >> and of course given the time this has happened, it's only probably appropriate to surmise that people might have been in the building. >> and, you know we've seen stories in the past where planes have hit buildings, small planes. and it would be hard to imagine that a small plane could create that kind of hole in a building like the world trade center and create damage on the other side of the building from a sheer impact. small planes tend to crumple and fall down. but we haven't talked to anyone close to

this is in the twin peaks neighborhood. you see here in front is not where the fire started. it's actually a building behind it. we can't see it right now. there's a courtyard separating this part of the building and the other part of the building. that was one of the problems that firefighters had when they got here. they had to run their hoses about 400 feet. dozens of people were evacuated once the fire alarms went off early this morning. but only one apartment unit was significantly damaged. there was another one that had some cosmetic damage. and that is the unit where the fire started again in the building behind the building that you're looking at right now. the fire appears to be accident al. there were no injuries. so right now firefighters are just trying to clear some of the smoke from the hallways so they can let everybody back in. right now, again, with the fact that there were no injuries, all is well that ends well. but it certainly is a rude awakening for the people that had to leave in the middle of the nig
