we honor tywanza sanders beloved son of tyrone and felicia whose warmth and heartfelt spirit has kept us moving. we honor the reverend daniel simmons senior whose granddaughter said my granddaddy was an amazing man. seemed like every time he spoke it was pure wisdom and we honor pastor myra thompson who serve the lord with grace and dignity. she loved her children, her grandchildren and her great ran children. if you would just pause for nine seconds, a second for each one i would vitiate it. thank you. in closing i want to thank all of my colleagues in the senate and the house for their kind words over the past week and for the prayers that continue to come into our city from across the nation. we are charleston. we ourselves carolina and we are absolutely united and we are committed to replacing hate with love pain with kindness and ill will and hostility with goodwill and comfort. i.e. yield to senator graham. >> thank you. >> the senator from south carolina. >> i want to recognize senator scott. we all know tim as a man of quiet faith. he does it when we are not looking by the way

tyrone is up first from north carolina. caller: good morning, josh. i would like to say this this stuff wouldn't have gone on if republicans would have had gun restrictions. i blame them on c-span on this because they let people come on and say whatever they want. we should be able to go in the house of prayer without being shot. we need to come together as a nation and do what's right. host: tom's up next. tom, good morning. caller: good morning. first of all, i would like to say that there's no defense for anyone doing what they did in that church last night. but i blame the press for soaking hatred between whites and blacks and the way they cover the things that blacks feel like they're being done wrong but the way they cover it does nothing but stoke hatred between whites and blacks. when the press says they cover both size and they try to be right in the way they do t-how stupid do you think the viewers are. they chase down people who advocate violence and there is no -- when a policeman can go to court, but if a black person needs to be defended

host: tyrone from connecticut is calling on the other line.aller: i get annoyed when i hear these raw job creation numbers. i never hear a discussion of the quality of the jobs being created. what is the quality of the jobs being created? 280,000 pounds nice but what is the quality? guest: an excellent question. we have seen the shift since the recovery began. at first it was retail jobs, what they call leisure and accommodation, those jobs tend to pay less. more recently there has been a pickup in areas that pay better, so like professional business services, white collar jobs, high-tech jobs, engineering we had a very strong gain in those. we had 17,000 in construction, a blue-collar area that tends to pay well. we also had strong gains in some other smaller sectors that again, that pay ok. that is better so it is a broader mix and that is one reason why we had that 3/10 a percent increase in wages. i think we are seeing more hiring, more jobs being created in the higher-paying areas. that is a bit of the shift. host: we are talking with nel
